Albert Wesker has been working with the Umbrella Corporation since 1978. In 1998, it was assumed that he betrayed Umbrella, but in 2004 it was discovered that he was in fact bringing back the corporation. He then secretly began working with Tricell, a rival of Umbrella. After the Uroboros virus was considered a failure and Tricell collapsed, Wesker went on a long hiatus.

Wesker has since resurfaced as the leader of Neo-Umbrella. Thus fulfilling his vow to bring the real, core Umbrella Corporation back. But this time, they aren't afraid to admit that they are fighting against humanity.
