Newbie unfriendly

This BP lists only one PD and one FD as a VSB entry point, both in the SE corner. Both hospitals are EHB. I strongly recommend that the cade level on Agapitus General Hospital [81,96], Hitchens Street Fire Station [84, 99] and Somerside Drive Police Department [80,92] be dropped to VSB, to be in compliance with the spirit of the Uniform Barricading Policy. Anne General Hospital [85,94] should be left at EHB due to the vital role it plays in defense of Fort Perryn.

Arguably, one of the NTs (probably The Hurst Building [84, 98]) should be maintained at VSB except in times of siege, per the UBP. I agree with many others that Necrotech staff are likely to have Free Running before they're in grave need of syringes, and NTs could therefore all be left at EHB. -- Pierce Arrow 23:30, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, there used to be a PD for an entry point, however it was dropped after Kevan fixed the forts last summer. You see, the armoury is by far a much better place for a newbie to go to. You have a larger chance of getting ammo and you don't need skills to get more ammo. It has been shown that the armoury has much more potency than a VSB police dept. As for a VSB hospital, Agipatus General hospital is a good choice for a newbie friendly Entry point but I don't know if everyone agrees on that. Finally, concerning the Fire Dept, knock yourselves out, i don't care for them at all, you can make whichever one you like into an entry point. Currently, bisdee is an entry point and Hichens isn't. If you want to save time, we can just keep the fire depts as they are. As for having a VSB NT...thats a bit of a problem, a combination of the armoury and the FU currently prevent that from being possible, sorry. Finally, I'm not sure if mais hotel has been made an entry point yet, but if it hasn't I would strongly recommend that it does become one. The man 15:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
  • The Armoury is useless when the Fort is down, so you've got to have a backup or two. You're also assuming that newbs read enough to make sense, which we all know isn't true. I'm going to fight for those PDs at VSB.
  • You're right, nobody cares about FDs, so I doubt we'll get much resistance there.
  • As for the NTs, we need to designate ONE as a VSB, and Hurst is the obvious choice. During attacks (like the current one with Feral Undead, cade levels should push higher ... but the PLAN should list it as VSB.
  • Finally, I agree on the Mais Motel. I'd add that as an entry point too. -- Pierce Arrow 13:18, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
You can not have Hurst and Hitchens at VSB. Look at the Rayment building, three VSB's right beside each is not going to happen. - Whitehouse T 15:18, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Not an unreasonable argument, but there's nothing special about Rayment. Let's move that back to EHB, break up that huge central block of EHBs by making [84,95] a warehouse VSB (giving Colglough a western entry). Let Hitchens St serve as the entry point for that cemetery [82,98] that nobody uses anyway. I'm keeping to the spirit of the old plan by leaving cinemas as entry points, except at [87,97] where it's pointless duplication.
  • I've worked up a draft below (to move to the Template page when complete). I'd recommend keeping a variant of the old plan as a siege plan on the same page. Pierce Arrow 06:00, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
In my opinion.. too many entry points that are close together. I posted my suggestion below yours. - Whitehouse T 14:20, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Yup, this is what I think it should look like, taking into account the UBP compliance. Allow me to add that, if set up like this, it follows the old plans policy of never being more than 2 squares from an entry point (unless you are at Udy Boulevard). This plan has one flaw/advantage depending on how you see it. There are few entry points. Now as these are safehouses for newbies that could be a problem, but on the other hand, the fewer there are, the easier it is to maintain them at VSB. - Whitehouse T 14:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion (swap Pehlips Museum and Stott Cinema as entry points)

Stott is a Dark building, Phelips is not. Entry at the Phelips Museum still gives access to the hospital next door, and provides an entry point along the western edge of the suburb, next to open ground. Given the ongoing PK/DC activity in the suburb (years of it now), Dark buildings are the safest places to rest. Swapping the VSB/EP from Stotts to Phelips does not negatively impact new players, and greatly increases the utility of the cinema. Note that making this change does not change the relative distance to other non-VSP buildings (from the old plan policy referenced above, of 'never being more than 2 blocks from an entry point'. Good idea, Felix Hardcastle

I have made the change you suggested.
