Description
Servatius Hospital was built in the mid 1800's when Danversbank was still a relatively open suburb. The large, well-tended hospital grounds and the hilltop position served to isolate the rest of the suburb from the screams of the lunatics incarcerated in the building. Servatius provided many employment opportunities for the working-class residents of Danversbank, requiring domestics and blue-collar workers to keep the castle-sized building operational. Suburb legend has it that extensive tunnels are to be found beneath the hospital, allagedly used by bodysnatchers to bring fresh cadavers to the brain-surgeons of Servatius.
By the end of the Victorian era Servatius had become a rehabilitation hospital for servicemen suffering physical or mental trauma. It served this purpose through two world wars. In the 1960s the hospital board was forced to progressively sell off pieces of the hospital grounds to developers to stave off financial insolvency. Servatius was closed in the early 1970s and remained derelict for almost 10 years.
During the property boom of the 1980s Servatius was purchased cheaply, refitted and reopened as a private hospital. By the time of the outbreak Servatius General Hospital had become a trust-owned mental health facility caring for the disturbed. Unlike the mental health facilities in and around Shackleville, the new Servatius did not house criminally insane or homicidal patients. Instead the Servatius facility specialised in rehabilitation of private patients suffering from psychotic delusions, bipolar disorders and mental collapse due to modern life stresses.
History
Servatius General Hospital is frequently the first port-of-call for two groups: survivors revived in the N of Danversbank and zombie hordes moving between Fort Perryn in Whittenside and Buckley Mall in Wyke Hills. The hospital has a bloody history of zombie break-ins and survivors with Free Running should learn lessons from that history i.e. sleep elsewhere.
Barricade Policy
Servatius General Hospital is a designated VSB+2 safe house in NW Danversbank. It is maintained by the DRRP in accordance with the Provisional Danversbank Barricade Plan in order to provide a tactical resource point for beginning survivors who have not yet purchased the Free Running ability. If the hospital is too heavily barricaded to permit easy entry the nearest entry point should be Athay Crescent Fire Station (1SW).

Servatius General is now in ruins. --Jerome Hargatai

The hospital is again overbarricaded. Given recent events this paranoia is understandable. --R33F3RM4N 14:49, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Servatius is powered and heavily barricaded (i.e. overbarricaded) by survivors sheltering from a small zombie horde. Athay Crescent Fire Station was ruined last night and it's only a matter of time before an attack is launched against the adjacent hospital. --R33F3RM4N 13:11, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
