By the wisdom of the Consuls, registration has postponed while the Republic founds a base of operations in Whittenside!

Nearly six years after the initial outbreak, Pluto's wrath still fervently rages onward in the hordes of the undead. In this madness, survivors have turned on one another...man against man, citizen against citizen. In order to pacify the advancing hordes, Consul Virgilius Maro and Scipio the Great of the New Roman Republic have seen in it their wisdom to hold games for the citizenry of Malton and to appease the gods in gladitorum. The sands of Floyde Stadium will be consecrated in blood, and Malton shall hear the roar of the arena for the first time, harkening back to an era of glory.

About the Event

The First Annual Games of the Victus Mortuus is a Malton wide event, sponsored by the New Roman Republic. Mirroring ancient forms of gladiator combat, this event is a tournament that pits player vs. player in a test of wills and combat prowess to determine who is the gladatorial champion of Malton. Interested parties are invited to sign up on this page in order to compete. As the event continues, the two finalists will engage in the Primus, the winner achieving the above title and fame throughout the Urban Dead community. The goals of this event are to:

1) Enhance the roleplaying experience of the Urban Dead Community.

2) Foster relations between groups in the Darvall Heights region and its area of effect.

3) Promote responsible PvP actions between survivors that are voluntary and engaging.

4) Execute a collaborative effort with the wiki community. Even though this is not an original idea, the execution of it demonstrates a success in organization, especially at this time in UD.

The Arena

Floyde Stadium, located in Barrville has been chosen as the site for the event. This location was selected for its relative centrality in relation to the Malton city map as well as higher player activity in the region. Throughout the games and the period leading up to it, the barricades on the structure are to be maintained at Extremely Heavily Barricaded +2 and unless otherwise noted, are to be zombie free. A couple of other things to note:

  • Forshaw Towers will be designated as quarters for combatants to regenerate action points, heal, and prepare themselves for the next round of the games.
  • Head Grove will be the designated revive point for the games. Any player slain in the arena is expected to move there to await revivification. A trained New Roman Republic medicus will be on hand to revive fallen players shortly after the end of combat.

Rules of the Games

  • Combatants must first be registered a week prior to the start of the games. This allows for proper seeding by the consulate.
  • The only players allowed to engage in combat inside of Floyde Stadium are registered gladiators. They can only attack each other at their designated combat time. While the Consulate and her allies will do their best to arrange fair times that both players can actually participate in, those players must also contact each other to confirm their involvement.
  • Matches that fail to occur at their designated time are deemed a forfeit. If one player is in the arena at combat time, they are declared the winner. If neither player is present, their next competitor receives a "bye" and automatically advances to the next round.
  • The choice of weapons is the fighter's prerogative, conducive to their fighting style. This allows the fullest expression of bloodsport in the arena.
  • At the conclusion of combat, the slain player is asked to procede to the designated revive point, Head Grove. The wounded victor will be treated for their wounds at the prescribed waiting point, Forshaw Towers. After they heal, they can wait until the commencement of the next round.
  • Players who compete in the event will be awarded a forum tag for their wiki profile indicating their involvement in the games. They can also designate: "Competitor in the Games of the Victus Mortuus" in their UD character description.
  • The victor of the Primus will be awarded a forum tag for their wiki profile indicating their new status as Champion of Malton. They can also designate: "Victor of the Games of the Victus Mortuus" in their UD character description.

The Combatants

Interested parties are encouraged to post their name as well as a link to their Urban Dead profiles below. Gladatorial registration is currently active for the next few weeks. It is also recommended that you join the New Roman Republic forum, a link of which is posted below. This will allow for quick communication regarding combat times in our subtopic "Games of the Victus Mortuus". We hope to see you in the arena, so that you can do your part to satisfy the gods and bring peace to Malton.

Updates

Registration for the games has been postponed due to a lack of interest and the movement of the NRR to Whittenside.

Registration for the games has begun. It will run for the next two weeks.

But Wait! Are You Supporting PKing?

No. Combatants are allowed to engage one another in specific squares, following the rules of the games. Players who are killed will be directed to a revive point where a New Roman Republic member will immediately revive them. Both players in the combat have agreed to engage one another, thus taking away the one-sided nature of a PK event. The event's focus is rooted in engaging the Urban Dead community in a satisfying role-playing experience and to grow the interest in the game. HOWEVER, ACTIVE PK PLAYERS ARE WELCOME TO REGISTER. WE ADMIRE YOUR DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITY, AND YOU ARE DAMN GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO.
