August 2007

Prologue (early 2007-almost August) (added to explain character origin):

After high school, bored and low on cash, I joined the army. I trained as a recon unit, thinking it'd be safer. I also had okay skills with a gun. One day, a general came by to see how good we were. We did alright, and me and a few others were picked for some mission. The breifing was where things got weird.

On the way to Malton (August 1-9 2007) (more origin explaining):

We learned we and a few others from around the nation were headed to a town called Malton, in the middle of nowhere. They said that two years ago, a science experiment gone wrong made zombies roam wild. Freaking Weird. We airdropped into the area, but heavy winds blew me WAY off course. About 20 feet before the ground, I got flipped upside-down, the contents of my backpack spilling across the block...Damn gravity. I checked my pack, and found only a single flare and a set of binoculars. Just freaking great.

It begins (about August 10th, 2007):

I roamed the area, horrible groans all around me. I saw a police department, but it was well-barricaded. I found a nearby warehouse to enter. I leaped from roof to roof, and crashed through the window of a hospital, staring down the barrels of 15 guns. Their leader said, "Stand down, he's human." I picked myself up, and soon learned more about Malton...

The early days (Mid-August 2007):

I found out I was in the suburb of Nixbank. Odd name. I got a map of the area, learned about the many groups, and heard about "revival". Interesting. I searched the police dept and nearby hospital, finding a radio, a shotgun, some shells, and other items. Realizing my combat ability was crap, I headed to a library to the north, hoping to find some books that would help my skills. I camped out in a nearby warehouse.

The Extinction attacks! (Late August 2007):

I had heard that a huge horde of zombies were heading this way, some massive group dedicated to dominating Malton. It seemed crazy, but I slept lightly. Good thing I did. Zeds broke in the building, and a heated battle raged. When I woke up, I had to push a zombie off of me. God, that thing's claws hurt! A surviver yelled to me to go warn the others. I checked my shotgun. Damn, I should've loaded it beforehand! I shoved a shell in and fired at the nearest zed. But the bastard knocked my shotgun out of my hand, making my blast miss by a mile. I turn and ran out the window. Soon I reached a Necrotech building, and blurted out the news before passing out. A few hours later, I woke up to ANOTHER losing battle. A scientist screamed at me to run, and promptly died by a crushing bite to the throat. I learned my lesson earlier, and jumped out the window, aiming for a nearby building. But I slipped in the rubble of my target building, sending me to the street. OW. I got up and ran into a warehouse, where a few other survivers hid from the zeds. I sat down and waited for death. Soon it came, but not in the form expected. Two escaped crimanals came in and killed us all. I woke up just as they stabbed me. I stood up as one of the undead and attacked the duo. I killed one, the other ran. Killing him made me feel guilty, but I ignored the feeling and went outside, ready to cope with "life" as a zombie.

The aftermath (the last days of August 2007):

I roamed the streets. There were no living humans anywhere. All I saw was the undead. I went from block to block, mualing my rotting kin, hoping none were old friends. It was then I remembered the word, "revival". Soon I wandered to the north-east, my map saying the suburb of Reganbank was quiet. I hoped I could be human again.
