Who they are

They are the homeless. That is, they prefer to not get caught up in any one area for an extended amount of time. Granted, none of the Vagrant Tenets define such a length, but a vagrant never settles down in one spot. To a vagrant, home is everywhere. He is always on the move, helping survivors universally, rather than in a specific location. Vagrants always help the human cause with as limited pain as possible.

Vagrant Tenets

The following are the fundamental tenets that a vagrant follows, complete with in-depth analysis of each tenet.

Tenet 1: Thou shalt be a shepherd to all humanity.
This is the fundamental tenet for the vagrant. Later tenets are a branch of this one, and serve to expand on the concept of this tenet.
The vagrant holds little to no bias to any individual or group, but rather to humanity as a whole. The vagrant greets each human life with love and respect. The vagrant aims to help those who need his assistance, whether it be the living fending the dead, or the dead wanting to return to the living. Occasionally, the vagrant will need to purge the flock from its poisonous influences, but only on a rare occasion does he do the dirty work for that.
Tenet 2: Thou shalt be free of permanent residence to one specific location.
Residence breeds attachment. Attachment to the land, to its denizens, and to whatever happens to both. Since the vagrant does not believe in permanent residence, "going down with the ship" is less likely to occur. This is not to say that the vagrant is a coward when the going gets tough, but rather that the vagrant's resources are much better spent being able to help humanity rather than looking for a revive. The vagrant will leave when he feels the fight is lost. The vagrant can not tend humanity if he is locked in one location.
Tenet 3: Thou shalt be free of leadership.
This tenet does not mean the vagrant is anti-authority, anarchistic, or rebellious. Quite the opposite, in fact. The vagrant will follow out requests given from others to the best of his abilities. However, the vagrant heals his flock universally. Swearing to one's command limits essentially violates Tenet 1, as the vagrant will only be limited to what his commander tells him, lest he breaks from the reigns of said commander, which in and of itself besmirches the vagrant's main goal of trying to help humanity and not cause any undue grief.
Tenet 4:Thou shalt keep humanity pure.
The vagrant will never kill another human, unless he witnesses that said other human only exists to cause humanity pain. Rivalries—which a vagrant will try his hardest to stay out of, or, failing that, will do his best to mediate—will always exist, and usually those situations resolve themselves.
Keeping humanity pure also means tending the wounded when you can, as well as relieving some of the burden at revive points and removing zombies that are harassing humans.
Tenet 5:Thou shalt bear not the fruit of thy labors.
The vagrant needs not a résumé to lend a helping hand. The vagrant works anonymously, only bearing the Malton Vagrants standard to show how much he is willing to help. The vagrant may tell stories when appropriate, but never to display his amazing feats of heroism, or whatever feats he may have.

Becoming a Vagrant

There are no permissions to be asked, tests to be taken, or requisites to meet in becoming a vagrant, other than the capability of following the tenets.

Heretical Vagrants

If, in the course of your journey through Malton, you discover a Vagrant that openly defies the Vagrant Tenets, kindly use the talk page to both announce (user ID) and show proof of the vagrant's actions(iwitness, screencaps—to a lesser extent)
