Level 22 Monroeville Survivor - unfortunately one of the last.

July 25, 2008

Met a small group of survivors three of whom were 1st quarantine survivors. A couple more were high enough level to have construction but had no toolboxes. The rest were level ones with no exp so I assumed they were zed spies and I ran off.

As a last hurrah I'm trying to complete my radio/generator/fuel set so I can make the [possibly] last transmission in Monroeville. Serialize the short story "I am Legend" a paragraph at a time. Then destroy the gennie and run, rinse, and repeat until dead. It's a goal anyway.

If I'm still alive there must be some high level survivors in the cracks; if I've run into three there must be dozens, somewhere. "Dozens" doesn't look good compared to 3k active zeds (granted more than half of those might be idle, but still..)

My current plan is to hide in the spaces between hordes, repair one building a day, search a little, close the doors, and leave. Barricading seems foolish because many Zeds don't have "Memories of Life" and building 'cades just gives them free XP and access to the building. This isn't a good survival strategy but it's the best I can think of.

Monroeville is dying; it doesn't look like perma-headshot will be restored soon, if ever. Even if it was restored today I think M-ville is passed the tipping point; I estimate less than 10% of the survivors have headshot which means each one would have to kill 20 zeds before they die.

The survivor population is dropping by 10% a day and that doesn't take into account the level 10+ that die and start a new level 1 char. There aren't just more zeds but they are of higher level than the survivor population.

Here's hoping I'm wrong!
