Supply Crates

Supply crates contain supplies airdropped by military helicopters to help support survivors. If your character notices a helicopter passing overhead, then you can be sure a supply crate has been dropped somewhere nearby. Crates are dropped on 'special days', such as holidays and the game's birthday as a gift for players.

When opened or bashed open by survivors, the person who opened gains a random number of items and bullets, equal to several days worth of searching (even if this would take them above their inventory limit). Because of this, they are highly valuable and can start impromptu PK wars over who will get to open the crates, as only one person can have the items of a particular crate.

A zombie who smashes open a crate does not get any items; instead, all of the items inside are lost, and, since the most recent airdrop, grants the zombie XP.

It has been confirmed that opening a supply crate with a fire axe can damage the contents, reducing the amount of items received. Conversely, opening a supply crate with a crowbar appears to increase the chances of opening the crate with a particular action (and comes with different flavor text). Crates appear to work similar to barricades and are about as strong as a level-one barricade.

Since the end of December, the dropping of supply crates seems to have ceased entirely, leading many to the speculation that it was Kevan's Christmas present to the survivors. Supply drops also occurred on April 16^th, 2006 (Easter Sunday for most branches of the Christian religion) and the third set of the supply drops occured on July 3rd - Urban Dead's one year birthday, keeping in the "holiday/special date present" theory.

Found one outside the Anthony Building in Santlerville. Contained 2 full loaded pistols plus 4 pistol clips. --Lithedarkangel 21:18, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Got one by the NE end of Thompson Mall. It have 5 shotgun shells, 5 pistol clips and a flare. On a side note this is the second or third crate found by Thompson in as many days.--Dragon fang 00:17, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

19th Decemeber 2008

Found a crate outside of Pole Mall and smashed it open with a fire axe. I received 2 fuel cans and a portable generator. This confirms that crates still arrive at Christmas time. --Warmarshal 17:47, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

3rd July 2008

Found a supply crate in Wray Heights on Newborough Road. Smashed it open with a fire axe and got 5 shotgun shells, five pistol clips, and a flare gun. John Ibans 11:21, 5 July 2008 (BST)

A supply crate was found in Yorke Grove (Darvall Heights).

Supply crate found at Harkness Street (41, 12) Yagoton. Contained 3 syringes and a DNA extractor.

You are at Kendall Row (Lockettside). A supply crate has been dropped here. You smash the side of the crate open. Inside, you find a pack of first-aid kits.

A supply crate was found on Silly Grove in Williamsville. Although it was opened with a fire axe, it yielded 2 loaded pistols and 4 clips of ammo.

A crate was found in Spicer Hills.

A helicopter passed over Tikhon General Hospital in Ruddlebank, and dropped a crate in Loweth Alley. It had 7 fuel cans inside.

Another crate was found in Shackleville at Snelgrove Walk

Another helicopter passed over Pegrum Place Police Department in Dulston, and dropped a supply crate somewhere nearby. A lucky survivor reported over the Dulston Alliance radio that he had found 5 syringes inside.

A crate was found at Fathers Street in Shore Hills, with 2 pistols and a flak jacket inside. Another survivor heard the thrum of a helicopter flying over St. Hormisdas' Church in New Arkham, but unfortunately was killed by zombies before finding the crate.

A crate was found at Naisbitt Auto Repair in Brooksville, But Zombies broke into the crate and loosing all contents.

A crate was found at Tompson Walk (23,26) in Darvall Heights. The contents were destroyed by a zombie.
