Description

The Margesson Hotel is a hotel located in the suburb of Rolt Heights along the border with Gibsonton to the south. The hotel was a family run business established by Harold Margesson in the early 40's. During an economic downturn in the 1980's it became something of a sleazy place to stay, more often than not a hideout for drug dealers, pimps, gamblers, and men wanted by the police, such as members of Malton's criminal fraternity. In a bizarre turn of events it became a surprisingly successful business under the watchful eye of Margaret Margesson during the early 90's following the savage murder of Benny "Fingers" Keal.

It all began when Benny, a local grifter, made a miscalculation when he conned a local drug dealer Dave Macaine. Benny ran to ground in Room 17 of the Margesson Hotel where, after a week of searching, the notoriously violent Macaine found and shot Benny dead. The local police were looking for any excuse to put Macaine in jail and in Benny's murder they found ample reason. Macaine went down for first degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and later possession of narcotics, which police discovered after raiding Macaine's house shortly after his arrest.

Margaret Margesson quickly cashed in on the huge publicity the case drew and started to arrange guided tours of Room 17 where poor Benny met his end. Then, not long after a local author wrote an account of the murder in which he speculated that Benny had been working for local police in a botched attempt to gather evidence on Macaine, Margaret Margesson soon found it rare for any of the hotel's rooms to be vacant as hordes of ghoulish tourists flocked to see the now famous hotel. Margaret Margesson made so much money that she was able to build an extension to the hotel and even eventually even hired an expensive decorator to carefully maintain, and even elaborate, on the atmosphere of a seedy motel for her guests. Before the outbreak tape recordings of gunshots and sirens would be played in all the rooms for a nominal fee at check-in while the reformed and "rehabilitated" Macaine even worked in reception, greeting guests to the hotel.

Barricade Policy

This building should be Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the mutually supported Rolt Heights Barricade Plan set forth in agreement with local survivor groups. This building is meant to serve as a safehouse for Malton's veteran survivors.

The survivor group Big Damn Heroes watches over The Margesson. They support the Rolt Heights Barricade Plan and as such attempt to keep the barricades at Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times.
