If this policy were to pass, it would allow all SysOps and Beaureu... Burau... the higher-up SysOps... to completely and publically ignore SpamBot behavior until such a time as Kevan installs a Wiki modification that at least tries to slow the onslaught.

  1. This policy does not require SysOps to ignore SpamBots.
  2. This policy does not require regular users to do or not do anything.
  3. SpamBot-created pages would still be properly reported and all other guidelines followed.
  4. This policy does make it so that any SysOp not doing his or her duty of clearing Spam cannot be brought up on misconduct charges or suffer any other penalization for ignoring this single problem.

The reason for my creation of this policy is that, having run my own MediaWiki sites, I know how ass-boringly easy it is to install modifications.

There is no excuse for wasting the time of volunteer moderators simply to avoid a simple installation.

Plus, it doesn't really harm anything since it's a "pass" for SysOps who may want to neglect Spam removal since the Spam is being neglected on a higher level...

And let's face it, I got nothing to lose by suggesting it. :)
