PyroSadist

In the largely deserted suburb of Dunell Hills, a man sat in solitude in a contemplative mood.

His meditations drifted uncertainly like a ship upon an angry sea--no doubt aided to this state of mind by the crushing exhaustion of the inexperienced-and-still-living. Before long a zombie shuffled into the room and scowled; it scooted slowly across the cheap office carpet toward the man. His taxed body and mind lay at the limits of consciousness--what little fear he had left unspent twitched out their resistance while auditory hallucinations roared him toward oblivion.

But just before he passed into that darkness, he noticed that the zombie had stopped in its tracks and its vacant stare had begun to deviate. The zombie's head tilted toward to the office ceiling tiles where something drip-drip-dripped onto its face. As they watched, a design spread across the tiles. This was the man's last consciousness.

Upon awakening, he was surprised to find the remnants of some fiery catastrophe that must have consumed the zombie--leaving nothing but the soles of feet and some foul, oily ash. Nothing the man could imagine could account for this miracle. And as he struggled against the absurdity and gravity (and gasoline vapors), he heard a voice. "Not a voice," he would often have later occasion to think , "THE Voice."

He would describe it as strong, imposing, commanding, and captivating. The Voice explained to him that she was Phlogistera, Fire Goddess. She explained to him that she had opened him to the mysteries of the Cleansing Flame and that it was his life's destiny to be the first of her sacred Fryers--those mortal beings charged with exploring the mysteries of The Cleansing Flame and attempting to walk The Path of Burnination.

Never able to recall his previous life after that moment, PyroSadist was born. And he walks Malton, spreading the news of Phlogistera's revelation and her call to the Fryers to walk The Path of Burnination so that they might know The Embrace of The Cleansing Flame.

Fire Cult of Phlogistera

Through the revelations of Phlogistera, PyroSadist has gleaned some insight into how she desires her Fire Cult to be structured.

Sacred Fryers

There is no formal structure to Phlogistera's Fire Cult; there is no structured priesthood that acts as intercessor or determines who has been selected to be a Sacred Fryer. Phlogistera may come to Fryers in their dreams, through their campfires, or sporadic radio static. No one can say whether another person has received a message directly from Phlogistera except themselves--and it is their choice whether or not to pursue The Embrace of the Cleansing Flame. Only YOU can walk The Path of Burnination.
