History

Prior to the Malton Incident, The Burfield was the dirtiest, cheapest and most crime-ridden of Crowbank's six hotels. Patrons who were banned from the other establishments in the suburb were forced to turn to The Burfield for a cheap room in which to conduct their business. A true last resort, this hotel was a frequent destination of the Coroner and the mobile free-clinic van.
