Description

Chidgey Avenue is a street in the suburb of Vinetown.

History

Chidgey was the centre point of violent clashes between local residents and Police riot squads. After the Vinetown Council condemned many buildings and siezed unsafe premises many people took to violence and looting. Only once the future regeneration plans for the area were revealed did citizens understand the need for the area to be vacated.
