Club Budd

Description

Club Budd is a 1 1/2 story brick square structure. The original exterior has been maintained, but some updates and renovations have taken place over the 110 years of the building's existence.

History

Club Budd is the oldest club in Chancelwood. Built in 1898, the original brick structure was constructed as a pub owned by the Curton family that served patrons of Firminger Hotel. The original building was a 1 1/2 story square building with a cellar for storage of wine, beer, and spirits.

Club Budd became a private gentleman's club in 1952. With the change in style came some renovations to the interior and a re-design of the attic space into an office for the management.

During the poor economy of the 1980's, Club Budd saw a decline in membership, and resorted to opening its door to the public in order to make ends meet. The management at the time started booking punk bands to play the club, and many of the patrons during this time trashed the interior of the club.

In 2004, Aleister Curton purchased Club Budd from the First Bank of Chancelwood, and began renovating the building. The club was closed for a full year, during which time Aleister Curton poured several million pounds into restoring the interior to nearly its original state. However, he also re-designed the attic space, adding a small walk-out balcony with wrought-iron gates. He also closed off a piece of the parking lot and converted it into an outdoor beer garden, complete with a brick wall for privacy. The last phase of his re-construction was renovating the cellar. He had new steel structural supports put into the foundations, and he paid for a very costly tunnel to be built between the cellar of the club and the cellar of Firminger Hotel, another property he had purchased in his quest to re-establish his family's claim to Chancelwood.

The club re-opened in June of 2005 as a private gentleman's club, and invitations to join the club were sent to the most prominent members of Malton society. The club's re-opening was a huge success; however, in July of 2005 all of Malton went to hell, and Club Budd became something quite different.

Over the last several years since the outbreak, Club Budd's denizens have come and gone, but a small group of dedicated hedonists called it home. This group aptly named itself Club Budd, after the place that they had come to call home. Each member made a point of constantly re-stocking the beverage supplies for the club, either by scavenging alcoholic beverages from other places around Malton, or by brewing their own beer and spirits. They've always welcomed anyone who could appreciate the finer points of intoxication, and the celebrate the freedom that they experience each days as survivors of the hell that is Malton.

Barricade Policy

The members of Club Budd try to keep the club barricaded at all times - extremely heavily barricaded. They maintain Firminger Hotel as an adjacent property that is kept very strongly barricaded, so that visitor's may take the secret tunnel constructed by Aleister Curton to enter Club Budd.

Current Status

You never know when Club Budd will be overrun by zombies or murderers who claim that they are hunting criminals (even though nobody ever declared them the law). Nonetheless, Club Budd always comes back, so stop by, have a drink, and share a good story with us.
