Fortune Street

Description

History

In the earliest days of Malton's founding, it is said that there were a group of settlers who were having an extremely hard time finding a place to establish would would become the future suburb Santlerville. As the story goes, the settlers were in desperate need of water, and it was here that they found a spring. They started a farmstead here, and named it 'Good Fortune Ranch'. Through the years as the greater city of Malton grew together, the ranch was built over, but the new 'Good Fortune Street' - built in front of the old farmhouse itself - was dedicated to preserve the history of the place. While the 'Good' part of the name has long since stopped being used, Fortune Street still exists today, an homage to the earliest beginnings of Santlerville.

Also, a reportedly good place to look for heads-up pennies.
