- The Guardians of Saint Jude are a survivor group based in East Boundwood, headquartered at St. Jude's Hospital. St. Jude is the patron Saint of lost and desperate causes, so it is only fitting that they fight in his name as they attempt to keep the neighborhood safe for other survivors.
- The Guardians of Saint Jude have no affiliation with the Knights of St. Jude located in Molebank.
Philosophy
- While other survivor groups seek to destroy zombie hordes, the Guardians of St. Jude take a different approach, based on three principles:
- 1) Sanctity of Life
- 2) Call to Service
- 3) Humility before God and Man
- The Guardians of Saint Jude aim first to preserve life by tending to wounded and infected Survivors. When dealing with the undead, they would rather revive a zombie than kill it if given the chance. Some zombies deliberately choose undeath over life - those who have contracted Brain Rot are a Guardian of Saint Jude's primary enemy, and the Guardians are tasked to attack rotters on sight. While the guardians are reluctant to attack non-rotters, they will kill to defend themselves and other survivors, but only as a last resort. In order to defend other survivors the Guardians of Saint Jude sometimes find that they have a duty to kill PKers, GKers, and other Griefers. Even so, the Guardians of Saint Jude do their duty with a heavy conscience.
- The Call to Service encourages the Guardians of Saint Jude to spend their time and energy in helping the community. The Guardians of Saint Jude take it as a holy mission to keep resource buildings powered, accessible and defended. They also strive to maintain adequate entry points and access to resource buildings for new residents of Malton that have not yet learned Free Running. All Guardians are encouraged to get Construction, Diagnosis, and Lab Experience as quickly as possible in order to better serve the community.
- Finally, the Guardians of Saint Jude consider humility to be one of the greatest virtues. The third tenant of this creed prohibits the Guardians of Saint Jude from sermonizing. A Guardian of Saint Jude teaches by example, not by preaching. Time spent proselytizing is time not spent gathering resources that can aid the community. While the Guardians are encouraged to acknowledge those they help and to offer praise to the Almighty and Saint Jude, these speeches should be brief and to the point. Actions speak louder than words. If others are inspired by the example the Guardians offer and feel the call to join in the good works, they will find they are more than welcome.
Recruitment
- The Guardians of Saint Jude welcome anyone that is willing to put service to the community ahead of their own personal welfare. If you are interested in joining, please contact us at the DnD Archive (http://www.dndarchive.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2616). Guardians of Saint Jude are expected to make a pilgrimage to St. Jude's Cathedral in Molebank, and there acquire a Silver Medallion of St. Jude, and thereafter wear it proudly. It is customary that while within the cathedral to offer a prayer honoring St. Jude and asking for his help with future endeavors.
History
- The Guardians of Saint Jude were officially founded on October 28th, 2009 (St. Jude's feast day). So far they have made numerous minor contributions toward making and keeping the neighborhood safe. On December 1, 2009 they changed their name from the Knights of Saint Jude to the Guardians of Saint Jude to help alleviate any confusion with the Knights of St. Jude located in Molebank.
