Diary of a Survivor

I guess I should tell you a little about who I am. If you’re reading this, I’m probably dead, or I’ve managed to find a way to get this out. My name is Chris Forelle, and I was dropped here with a team of medics to relieve the current groups tending to the army. Unfortunately, we were dropped three blocks from a horde. There must have been at least two dozen of the walking dead waiting for us. No one else escaped. Franz, Harry, Sophia and Adam all dead. The two guards fell first, then the others. I just ran. Ran and ran and ran. All of them dead. I can’t stop shaking, it’s so bitterly cold. I’m going to try and find somewhere to hide.

20th December

I struggled my way over to the Edgewood suburbs. It’s cold outside, but it only slows us, not the dead. Hiding in a warehouse and have barricaded the doors very strongly. There’s another survivor here sleeping, but I daren’t wake him. He looks like death himself. I hope he isn’t infected. Only just made it here, used my whole clip fighting off a zombie who retreated when he saw I was ready to fight. If another one comes, I’m dead meat. Empty pistol, some pipes for door blocks and a can of fuel. At least the generator is working. I’m tired, cold, hungry and scared. Goodnight Diary, I hope I’m still alive when I wake up.

21st December

I’m still alive. I’ve joined up with three other survivors sharing this warehouse with me. The doors are strongly barricaded and I gathered supplies from the nearby police station, including two clips of ammo for my pistol. We have plenty of dry rations and water, strong barricades and some small heat from the generator. Things are looking up a little for now. I’ve received news that it’s possible one of the privates with my team is still alive, as a survivor told me he saw a man running from the scene towards Shearbank.

22nd December

I’ve been offered a place in the Medics of Malton, a group for medics who are isolated in the city and need to get back into the one skill they have. I’m making my way to Shearbank, to the Hospital and maybe even the Private who may be alive. I made a mad dash to Peppardville, north of Edgecombe on my way to Shearbank. As shown by the map, Peppardville is a safer area than Edgecombe, but I have several days travel ahead of me, from Peppardville to Heytown, north to Santlerville and then west to Huntly Heights and then Shearbank. I’ll have to go it alone, with only the thought of other, more experienced medics and survivors to keep me going on the way. Wish me luck diary.

27th December

Sorry I havn't been writing in here, but I havn't stopped or slept for the past 5 days. I'm in a hospital in Peppardville, with ten or so other survivors, heavily armed. I've gathered together 16 first aid kits, primitive though they are. I've met up with another medic who might join me in the Medics of Malton. He's got himself 16 first aid kits too, and we'll be ready to move out in a few days time. We've been patching up the other survivors, and I'm glad to be helping. Wish me luck, diary.

28th December

I've made it to a hospital in Chancelwood. I moved too far, after the others were scattered by a horde. There were at least 40 ferals after us. Me and three others have managed to escape to here. We've barricaded very strongly and are ready. I hope the others are awake. I need... to...sleep.........

28th December-Night

Oh god! I woke up, it was dark, and all I heard was the last of the barricade fall, and a zombie slam into me, biting my arm hard. The pain was indescribable. The others are most likely dead. I ran hard, but I'm so tired. The bite was infected but I've managed to heal myself now. I believe I am no longer infected and the wound has stopped bleeding. I'm stuck in a motel, with two inexperienced soldiers, and a possible redrum member, a notorius gang of murderers. I want to move on, but I'm so tired I can barely move.

Dear god protect me.

29th December

Oh God, they've left me, they're coming trough the 'cades!

Graagh. Graaaaaaagh!

3rd of January

I've been...revived? I don't remember much. I made it to the hospital in shearbank, and am inside safe and warm with 20+ survivors. I've patched them all up and everyone's alright. I just have time to ponder two things. I don't know who revived me but I thank them from the bottom of my heart. Secondly, some bad news. A patient was brought in from outside but was only in a few moments before he......turned. A survivor was forced to put a bullet in his head and throw him outside, but he managed to damage the generator, which we later fixed. Maybe now I'll be able to get into a routine of fixing people up and actually helping.

15th January

Life is good in shearbank. I'm living in a strong, barricaded hospital, the lights on, machinery working and plenty of experienced survivors. I've learnt that the most effective way of combatting a zombie or 'zed', is to use a firefighters axe to disable the cranium. I've been picking up tricks for the past 2 weeks and am now reasonably proficient with it. I've kept my pistol, but I can't be looking for ammunition, I'm too busy as a medic first and foremost. I will continue to update as the situation develops.

19th January

Zombies are closing in on the surrounding area, and we're preparing to clear them out. I wont be fighting much, just healing the wounded and maybe swinging my axe a bit. I've been learning about firearms in the past few days, and hope to learn how to use one successfully, as a fireaxe is slow, although I don't need ammunition for it. I will update in the next 3 or 4 days.

30th January

I'm surprised how calm I am now. It's been a month and a half, and already, I can block the screams out of my head, stop my hands from shaking when I'm aiming, and deal with helping people with the most horrible injuries. The hospital still isn't as safe as the other buildings, and we still get plenty of madmen and zombies around. Bah, I have to go, I can hear Pedentic dragging a wounded man in. I will update later.
