The Journal of John Sandman

My name is John Sandman and these are the transcripts from my audio log of my encounters within the hell that once was the peaceful city of Malton.

May 30th, 2007

I'm still holed up inside Pegrum Place Police Department in Dulston. This is the closest place I've got to a home right now. Who would have figured that I would end up living in my former place of employment? I did a raid in the gun lockers earlier, and found a shotgun and some shells. It will certainly come in handy once I head out to search for other survivors.

I haven't heard anything from Florine as of yet. I sure hope she's fine. Last I know, she was in Gatcombeton in some hospital. Fitting place for the doc. I'm sure she's fine though, but I'd rather head over there and look for myself. Too bad that's not happening anytime soon. It's too far away and I'm not equipped well enough.

Damn those zombies for making me lose my cellphone! With it, at least I could have sent her a text message or something... Anyway... I think I might head out for a search tomorrow...

May 31st, 2007

Woke up by the disturbing sounds of zombies. The doors to the Police Department were completely busted open. I was just in time to see how some poor guy was dragged off by a zombie. I could hear the sickening noises as it started eating on that poor guy.

I quickly grabbed my shotgun and unloaded several shots into the nearest zombie, but I ran out of slugs before I could kill it. I quickly drew my trusty old pistol instead, and after a few shots, the zombie was down for the count. Reloading, I took aim towards the other zombie. There were still three others inside the building. But the creature wouldn't go down!!!

I panicked. It was cowardly, but I could see no other option but to run away.

Once outside on the street, I ran like hell. I decided that the Brookbury Row Firestation would be the safest bet. But boy, was I wrong. Once at the door, I found it completely barricaded. I could see no way in. At that point, I calmed down a bit and considered what to do.

I came only to one conclusion. So, I dragged myself back towards Pegrum Place PD.

The doors were still open. I could see the zombies inside, together with the other survivors.

I don't know if I'll survive this. I've only got two clips of ammo left. But at least, I'll give it my best shot.

Time to head back in...

June 1st, 2007

Somehow, I survived the zombies' raid on the Police Department. Once I got back in, I started blazing away with my gun. But thanks to the efforts of a couple of other survivors, the zombies were quickly killed off. The zombies seem to be determined to ransack this place completely. But I'll try my best to stop that. No more running away like a coward!

So, I spent the day searching for more ammo, and practising in the firing range with my shotgun. I'm really starting to get the hang of it! I also picked up another radio... Makes it easier to keep informed of what's happening around the city.

Tomorrow I'm heading out on another search. Each dead zombie might give other survivors a better chance... We can't give up.

I've been busy these last days. I've made several journeys out into Dulston. During a short stop at Blaise General Hospital a few days ago I noticed that the place had been overrun with zombies. There were too many for me to take care of myself though, so I had to retreat. Pegrum Place PD has been attacked numerous times the last couple of days, and the people inside have barricaded the entrance so that no one can get in... Not a very good idea, since this is the entry point to the Treweeke mall. I've found plenty of equipment, and even managed to find a way into Treweeke mall. That's where I'm headed tomorrow. But for now, I'm down at Lentell Walk PD in Pescodside after another tour through the city...

Still no word from Florine... Where is she?

June 18th, 2007

A lot has happened the last weeks. After being holed up in Treweeke Mall for several days, only heading out on small raids, I've become quite confident in my abilities as a survivor in Malton. I ran into people from a corporation called Necrotech. They offered me employment at their corporation. I warily agreed to learn how their technology works, and I was given what's called a "DNA extractor". Somehow, this thing catalogues zombies, making them easier to track.

I've heard several bulletins about Fort Creedy down in Pitneybank being overrun, and I decided to head down there to see what I can do to help. So, I began my longest journey as of yet. Right now, I'm sitting inside Cornelius General Hospital down in Spracklingbank. I managed to extract DNA from 2 zombies on my way down here. It seemed that the brain on one of them was completely rotten. Instead of reviving him or gunning him down, I just left him be.

Tomorrow, my journey continues...

They've brought down the barricades! They're everywhere!!! WE NEED HELP!!!

Graagh!!!

Graaaagh!!! Mrh?

June 29th, 2007

I've just the most horrible experience of my life. They killed me and made me inte one of them.... As a zombie, I shambled back towards home. Dulston. I was gunned down a few times by survivors, but I managed to get myself to Duport Avenue. When I got there, someone was kind enough to resurrect me with one of those Necrotech syringes... What the hell is in those anyway? Something tells me, that Necrotech may be the ones responsible for this outbreak.

I'm currently holed up in Treweeke Mall again. I will research into the subject of Necrotech when I feel ready enough.
