Finally found myself a scratchbook and a working pen. I guess I'd better start keeping a long of what's been happening. Well, amongst other things, I found a NecroTech scientist who - for the price of two bottles of whiskey and a block of cheese - taught me how to spot NecroTech buildings and how to work their DNA scaners. Should provide me with some useful data and experience. I'll keep a log of my findings.

The shit's really hit the fan now. Word is multiple hordes of zombies are converging on Caiger Mall. I've scrounged up some more ammunition and wasted a couple - one of them had a head that was covered with . . . I don't know how to describe it. It looked like one of those corn fungi - the kind that's blobby and white and grows on the ears of corn - except it was a sickly greenish-gray and pulsating.
I'd heard about zombies with what's commonly referred to as "brain rot" - some kind of second stage of the infection that attacks the central nervous system. Makes it damn near impossible to revive them, unless you've got access to a NecroTech lab facility. Might be that the zombie I saw had a pretty advanced from of brain rot . . . either that, or the bug's going into a third stage.
My god, how many stages does this infection have?!
