The back vault entrance I had used previously was wide open; the Necronet computer had a few bullet holes in it but the screen continued to flicker the company logo. After making my way past the overturned desks and tossed papers I arrived at the elevator that would take me into the labs. After reaching the bottom the doors opened to reveal a changing room were a man was sitting and reading a magazine. I quickly recognized him as one of those who had ambushed me at the warehouse. He had been assigned guard duty and like most guards he had become bored and distracted.
His head looked up from his magazine only to be splattered across the wall behind him. I had at least an hour before he got back up so I took my time breaking into one of the lockers, throwing on a generic grey shirt, tan khakis, and MOPP 4 gear. After stepping into the Decontamination room and recieving a five second blast of a potent disinfectant and another blast of water my gear showed no leaks and I could move on to the second elevator. The elevator was open and waiting for me and after stepping in it took me to the labs. Silently I wondered how long the Generator could keep the elevators running.
This time when the elevator opened five scientists on the other side had the drop on me and I barely avoided being shot while I dived behind a counter. The gunfire died quickly and I heard Dr. Norhd shout, "Why don't you just give up, you're trapped in Malton anyway!" As silence began to permeate the room I opened the case and tossed it into a tower of glass burners and tubes and answered, "I'm trying to fix that!" As the vials shattered across the white tile floor I used the distraction to crawl back to the elevator. Norhd recognized the carrying case and came to the conclusion I had during my recuperation.
It would only take Cyanogen Chloride around 15 seconds to burn through any chemical protection and start killing. The lab sensors knew that too and as Norhd rushed to follow my escape the elevator doors sealed shut. I could hear the vacuum of fire being blasted into the labs; a failsafe so nothing would reach the surface. Now all I had left was a rumor to track down.
