Project Context
PROJECT ON HOLD
Introduction
Malton has 10.000 locations, about half of which are buildings and half empty space. Of those 10.000 locations, nearly 7.000 (!) are considered stubs, which means they're ugly, have information missing, they don't conform to templates etc. 7.000 pages that lack in information.
- 7.000 pages that are boring for newcomers to read.
- 7.000 locations, and for some reason, none of those is a restaurant, a parking garage, a convention center, a grocery store, a market, a regular retail store, a college, a university, a courthouse, a prison or even a post office?
There are dozens of buildings Malton lacks, and yet we stick to the same old routines and tons of "Buildings", "Towers", "Squares" and "Parks" are left without a decent routine. This is where Project Context kicks in.
How It Works
Basicly, we decide on a certain building type, which locations could use it and other characteristics. For example:
Restaurant
- Fit for: Buildings, Towers, Hotels
- Density: Medium
- Focus around:Urban areas (center of map)
- Special: Cuisine should be specified, as well as chef's specialties.
We discuss the above, discuss some specialties (like whether or not to include some sort of "Little Italy" and spam Italian restaurants), maybe make a template, etc. Then we select an appropriate number of locations for the building and give those pages a make-over.
I know it sounds a bit farfetched, but I firmly believe that occasional input by the community can be far more effective than writing a backstory etc on our own every so often. NOTE: THESE DESCRIPTIONS WOULD NOT DELETE ANY EXISTING HISTORIES OR BE USED ON PAGES THAT ARE ALREADY ABUNDANT WITH INFORMATION.
CURRENT LIST

Restaurants - Comment
- This one is easy: there are no dedicated Restaurant buildings in Malton, so I figured they should be in Buildings, Towers or Hotels. Probably described as being on the first or second floor of these buildings. They provide a great opportunity for flavor and such in descriptions, thanks to the huge amount of styles and cuisines.
