St. Alexander's Hospital

Description

The hospital presents from outside as a fire-damaged white-stone building, its main doorway flanked by statues. Inside, its lobby covered with quarantine posters.

St. Alexander's Hospital is a important Entryway for Tompson Mall and therefore prohibited to be barricaded more than to very strongly, except in case of emergency. A particularly strong survivor presence is requested here, as break ins are frequent and this is not a particularly good building to lose.

History & Operations

Arise Valkyries!

February 10, 2007 - The Lockettside Valkyries are born in this hospital. There are five of us right now. Izumi Orimoto, Death 4 life, Zigs, Zhilo000, night after pill

Their mission is to protect the hospital, and all of Lockettside. This is a peaceful group, supporting the rights of peace of both humans and zombies. But if an attack is made, they will valiantly defend with their last breath. And even undead breath.

Known Doctors

Dr.Kelly Brackett is a known doctor that operates at the hospital, as well as Dr. Jack Zampella. Valkyrie staff are also trained in medical fields.

Schedule

This hospital is run and staffed by the Lockettside Valkyries, and to keep survivors comfortable and entertained, they run many miscellaneous activities here.

6:00-9:00: Breakfast is served. Ask Izumi what is on the menu.

8:00: Yoga: Izumi will instruct yoga class now. Zigs may also teach Judo or Karate. Chillpill practices varying degrees of Krav Maga or fencing to his students or recruits.

9:00: Morning tea and radio story.

11:00-12:00: Folk/Hawaiian music hour; Sing along with Izumi!

12:00-2:00: Lunch. Typically sushi or a light sandwich.

2:00: DDR TOURNAMENT!!! If a generator is up, Izumi has installed a DDR mat in the hospital.

3:00: This is when Izumi tends to the hospital garden. Hospital guests are more than welcome to help out.

5:00: Evening movie, if generator is running. if not, Zigs will start bingo early.

7:00: BINGO! Winners receive various small prizes.

7:00-9:00: Dinner is served. Different every night, not your typical hospital food! Every friday is theme night, this weeks theme: Oktoberfest.

8:00: Games. Staff will now begin dealing poker and blackjack.

9:00: Hospital happy Hour. Music, dancing, and free shots! It doesn't get much better than this in a post-apocalyptic environment!

10:00: Stargazing begins until staff retires for bed. Star viewing and lectures on astronomy. There are two telescopes available for guests.

Hospital Layout

Outside: Hospital Entrance; Serenity Garden. The entrance to the hospital has unfortunately become quite run down over the last couple of years. The walled back garden is quite different, however, with daily care by Izumi rain or shine, alive or...not. She has constructed a wooden shrine here which serves as a peaceful sanctuary to all guests. When able she also keeps several songbirds here, although they unfortunately are a major target for hostile zombies and angry survivors alike.

Basement: Storage. Supplies rarely run low due to the close proximity of the mall, although emergency rations and medical equipment in storage could keep a small group of survivors going for well over a year. Part of the basement was recently converted into a laboratory/quarantine area by DocHarmanz and The Man In Green. The lab serves as home/holding area for their "experiments." Entry is not advised.

1st Floor: Lobby; ER; A1-A50. This once sterile hospital lobby has been converted to a welcoming foyer for comfortable post-apocalyptic life. Pictures, decorations, and carpeting cover the barren walls and tile floor beneath. The ER is still used to treat wounded, although the unreliable generators and general wear and tear have made it quite spartan in comparison to its earlier years. Hospital rooms on this floor are mostly barricaded to prevent hostiles breaking through windows.

2nd Floor: Galley; B1-B125. The second floor lobby has been remodeled into a crude galley where Izumi prepares daily meals. Always kept clean and making use of fresh ingredients, the tantalizing aroma that drifts here reminds survivors that this isn't your local McZed's. Some survivors stay in the hospital rooms here, several of which have been decorated or even completely refurbished for a more domestic atmosphere.

3rd Floor: Pediatrics; OR; Laboratory; C1-C25. One of the hospital's more cluttered levels. The OR still functions and is used to treat severely injured patients. The Pediatrics ward has been almost completely torn down (as flu shots for toddlers are hardly a concern in today's age) to make room for the primary survivor lounge where guests spend most of their day. Expensive furniture has been brought in from the mall along with a few oriental pieces, complements of Izumi. A makeshift bar serves drinks.

The testing Laboratory no longer receives urine samples, but instead holds the hospital generators, when working. An adjoining room has been converted into a sub-station/control room to make electricity distribution more efficient.

4th Floor: Chapel; D1-D125. This floor is home to the St. Alexander Chapel where the religious go for confessions and prayer. A series of old staff lounges and offices on this level serve as makeshift rec rooms and libraries where guests may find games, books and hospital archives.

The bathrooms on this level have undergone a series of expansions to accommodate showers and several other amenities. This floor is also noted for housing the rooms of most Valkyrie staff.

5th floor: E1-E100. There is little worth noting on this floor, other than housing several more permanent and temporary guests.

6th Floor: Observation; Hospital Operations/Management. The Ops room is rarely used anymore, as management in this era is practically non-existent. The computers are still here, although no one has really gotten around to hooking them up. The Observation room is quite popular, however as stargazers and casual viewers alike can enjoy steaming coffee or tea in front of the large windows.

Roof: The roof isn't frequently visited as unsettling groans can be heard from greater distances than on the ground. However, couples have been known to sneak onto the roof at night for some "alone-time".

Neo-Roof: The survivor known as kyleklbecka came to the roof and took some 2x4s, tin sheets from the hardware stores and Tompson Mall to make the new floor, the neo-roof. It has a leather sofa, bed and some chairs, but used mainly for kyle's use.

Fubbs Well Established Abode: Located on the roof, Fubb lives in his large cardboard box. It has a mattress, scrap metal over the roofs and side of the box (to help keep it dry) and a rug as a door flap to help keep the wind out. This is where Fubb hides when something terrible happens in the hospital.

Barricading Policy

St. Alexander's Hospital is to be kept barricaded @ VS+2 at all times, due to it's caregiver status and entry-port to Tompson Mall.

January 6, 2010 - Light break-ins, one zombie at a time it seems. I conversed with one of these zombies, of whom i promptly named Peter Shwadigan as he was without a name. Upon naming him, peter attacked me. I attacked back. Almost killed him. It was an epic duel before we both ran out of AP. Please kill him before he kills me. Fubb out ~ Fubb

September 10, 2009 - St. Alexander's is under attack. At least 3/4 zeds destroyed the generator and killed 12/15 survivors. Today (September 11) all backs to normality.

November 28, 2008 - Zeds are massing around the adjacent Tompson Mall. Be ready, they will attack here soon.

October 28, 2008 - St. Alexander's Hospital has been tagged in recent days with news of an upcoming PK'er assault scheduled for Halloween. This assault has been met with approval of the New Lockettside Valkyries . Come one, come all, kill em all and let god sort em out. --Stephen Colbert DFA 20:43, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

August 3, 2008 - I was gone for a week, so my character disappeared, and what did I find when I logged back in? 25 zombies in the hospital! Thats what! the mall has also been completly obliterated, and Im stranded far to the south, help needed ~Fubb

July 10, 2008 - Alls safe at the moment, and we have a sufficient amount of survivors in the hospital, lots of them really nice and willing to heal you. It's a fairly nice crowd, and not very many PKers stay here. Not a high Zombie presence near the hospital right now, but I'm sure that'll change in a week or so... ~Fubb

March 8, 2008 - St. Alex has fallen to The Dead. Most regular hospital services have been suspended, while the morgue remains open and very active. Graagh.

January 9, 2008 - Right now there is a couple of people her outside the Hospital. Most of the time there really isn't much trouble but a few zombies come and go. The people heal you if needed so come over, we've got people here who will protect you during the night. the main leader has fallen but I'm positive she'll be back.....-Chris Campos

December 11, 2007 - More than 50 people in here right now. PKer named 'Sarah Silverman' came in here a few hours ago, and killed a couple people. A couple people went after her, and they found her. I am trying to ascertain what exactly happened between them. Staff are friendly, as usual. I came in with only 4 HP and they healed me right away. -Ryan Quicksilver
