Improved Diagnosis

Suggestion type
Class improvement
Suggestion scope
Doctors, infected patients, etc.
Suggestion description
Okay. I was reading through a few of the suggestions, and I noticed that doctors really don't get that much for the class they're in. They start off with Diagnosis, but I think that, rather than add a new skill, why not buff a vital one to the profession? Diagnosis, as we all know, starts off by telling you the HP of everyone on the list that you can view. However, it neglects to tell you if that person is at their Max HP (Bodybuilders). My first addition to the Diagnosis skill would cause those who are not at their Max HP to stand out (maybe with a different color than the others, or an asterisk by their health) to those with the Diagnosis skill. This would also help against losing IP hits due to looking at profiles.
My second suggestion is one that may nerf the infection skill lightly. If a doctor is diagnosing possible patients, oddities are sure to stand out in their investigation. Someone with an infection may exhibit the typical symptoms of the sick, and the dying. So I suggest that when someone is near a survivor with infection, that they alone get a message such as:
"You see -Name here-...S/he seems to look pale."
I realize this may be a bad idea, but I thought it merited enough attention to be put out on the suggestion floor.
EDIT: If possible, withdrawing the first part. If not, the complete suggestion is withdrawn. I didn't see the dupe.

Kill Votes
- Kill - you seem to have doubts about this suggestion, but think it has merit. Sounds like an ideal candidate for Talk:Suggestions. --Sir Bob Fortune RR 23:28, 18 June 2008 (BST)
- Kill, for now. - Good idea, but it needs more thought before you put it up to a vote. --Blake Firedancer T E RNL? P.I.S.I.T. 03:57, 19 June 2008 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - I suspect the first part is a dupe, but its the second that gets the spam vote. Its not only a bad idea, but its unclear what "standing near" means. When you talk, that means "the 50 nearest people" - are you saying anybody with diagnoses should get 50 of those messages on every screen viewing? That would be obnoxious. Anyhow, diagnoses is an amazingly good skill already and doctors level very fast in the right circumstances. Look at it this way; Diagnoses lets you know with 100% certainty who is at full health, and thus tells you (mostly) who is NOT infected. Use some deductive logic to narrow it down further- that's what a doctor would do! Bryce makes a good point below. I've seen that many, but only as a member of MOB. We occasionally hit buildings and have all the strike members do nothing but spread infections. Otherwise it's admittedly rare to see more than 10 or so infected people in one building. BTW, udWidget has a handy feature that will easily tell you which survivors in the room have body building and which don't. It chews up server power like mad (it essentially opens every profile "in the background") but it doesn;t cost any IP hits to use. Swiers 20:43, 18 June 2008 (BST)
- I didn't think about that, I guess. But, in response to the "50 nearest people"...Have you ever seen 50 people with infection in one room? I haven't. Bryce Wright 20:50, 18 June 2008 (BST)
- dupe - also dupe of this --Scotw 20:55, 18 June 2008 (BST)
- Spam - Just click their profile, very simple way to determine if they have Body Building. Doctors are an easy class to begin with, all my survivors have started that way. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 21:33, 18 June 2008 (BST)
- For people who use multiple characters, this kills their IP hits. Imagine trying to go through a room full of people, seeing if any of them don't have body building. Bryce Wright 21:36, 18 June 2008 (BST)
- Right click, open in new window. No IP hit. Common sense prevails again. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 21:49, 18 June 2008 (BST)
- Not everyone wants to go through that kind of hassle. Don't talk down to me. Bryce Wright 21:50, 18 June 2008 (BST)
