Suggestion talk:20070615 Zombie Wall Climbing
A great idea but it needs a bit of discussion to make it balanced first. For starters, the chance of getting in should increase based on the number of zombies trying to climb. Secondly, this should be completely ineffective against tall buildings. --Uncle Bill 15:23, 16 June 2007 (BST)
- How do you dtermine the "number of zombies trying to climb"? Generally, each players action is no affected by that of others, for two good reasons. First, its hard to code for two players "working together". Second, such things would raise high cries of "ZERG!!!!". The "pile of bodies" suggestion was shot down for this second reason, and the best I can figure is that you mean to have a bonus based on how many zombies are present outside the building- which would fail for the same reason. ZERG!!!! ... 15:56, 16 June 2007 (BST)
- Well, sure you're gonna get people crying "zerg" but I figured the easiest way would just be based on the number of zombies present. No need to differentiate who is trying to "climb" or not. It can just be assumed that they're all crowding as close as they can to the building looking for any way in. Maybe a 5% chance for every 50 zombies present? --Uncle Bill 19:27, 16 June 2007 (BST)
- If there are 50 zombies present, why bother with climbing? Spending 6AP on a 5% chance to get in would be dumb; just gesture at the barricades and attack! Really, there's not much tactical benefit to climbing in; smashing the 'cades chews up some human AP and / or helps other zombies get in even if you fail to get in yourself (and it earns you some XP, too). Trying to climb in would generally waste your AP, with no hinderence to survivors and no aid to other zombies, and no real help to you unless you get very lucky in your first few attempts. So unless climbing in is very easy / likely to occur (which is never gonna fly, even ignoring the cries of zerg or whatever) zombies seem better off pulling down the barricades. 19:53, 16 June 2007 (BST)
- Point taken. It's probably one of those things like sniper rifles on the rooftops. It could work, but doesn't serve a purpose unless it nerfs something else at the same time. --Uncle Bill 02:47, 18 June 2007 (BST)
- Swiers - If a zombie climbed in, he could take the barricades down EASIER from the inside. Also, they could groan, which would attract other zeds. So that's at least two advantages to being inside. Althought I totally agree that the chance of getting should be independent of the number of zombies present. armareum 00:38, 22 June 2007 (BST)

A definetely say a new subskill of "Lurching Gait" or "Memories of Life". And of course, maybe even an additional subskill to increase success chance by +5%. A base success chance of 5% seems sensible. Also, the AP requirement to do so should be 3AP (climbing up, climbing in, dropping down). Perhaps it could even be balanced out by making it so that if you fall down, you must spend 5AP to stand up (as if you just died). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BlueSpurt (talk • contribs) 02:52, August 2, 2009.
