Suggestion talk:20070819 Door Modification - no more "open" vs "closed"
- Spam - Please don't try to pass off a zombie buff as something that is helpful for survivors. The damage 3 AP can do is 9-12, which is enough to be dragged into the street if not killed.--Labine50 MHG|MEMS 05:40, 20 August 2007 (BST)
- I'm missing your point entirely then. You seem to be (correctly) pointing out that newbie zombies spend 3 more AP on average entering an open building (but can always enter) - so yep, as you say, that's a street dragging or killing that might not happen. Who DOES that help, if not survivors? Yes, it also helps the newbie zombies, by making so they are not forced to walk around looking for open doors. So it potentially helps BOTH sides- that's generally called "balanced", isn't it? Swiers 14:01, 26 August 2007 (BST)
The above moved over here from the vote page.
That's a totally dishonest reply Swiers. There's no way this isn't a zombie buff. You totally ignore the fact that your suggestion allows higher level zombies to drag injured survivor out onto the streets regardless of the status of the doors, and newbie survivors have no way of preventing it. You should withdraw and resubmit this suggestion seeing as you didn't even disclose this vital piece of information until well into voting... and even then people didn't "get it" The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talk • contribs) at 14:20 26 August 2007 (BST)
- See Pesatyels vote, he even referred to my vote explaining the implications... but I can't reply there... saying that I misunderstood! Looks like I'm the only one that did. FFS! Put this up in a fair manner, setting out the consequences for everyone in a clear manner, from the outset The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talk • contribs) at 14:26 26 August 2007 (BST)
Boxy, it wasn't a dishonest reply, I simply did not see that "problem", as the Labine did not mention it. Yes, survivors who can't build barricades would be unable to shut doors and stop feeding drags. Of course, currently a zombie with MOL can step outside, come back inside (opening the door) and then any zombie can drag again; it thus costs a zombie who has MOL just 2 AP to totally overcome this (rather unrealistic) defense. If your unskilled survivor wants to prevent feeding drags by securing a door, have them carry a length of pipe. That effectively lets them build a loose barricade, just like any defender with Construction (and half a brain) would do.
Your request for re-voting seems a bit harsh, but there is a week left on the voting, and I will consider it, as the point that drags are only blocked by barricades / piped doors did not occur to me when writing the suggestion, and probably should be part of the suggestion text. There's obviously also no way anybody could have anticipated the introduction of "door piping" when placing their votes, which may actually mean FEWER kill votes if people were worried about defenseless newbies It is a very close vote right now, with kills being JUST over 66%.
I'd actually rather let this go to undecided than yank it; if I get another keep vote (enough that it would potentially make PR) THEN I will pull it. Swiers 17:09, 26 August 2007 (BST)
