I'd like to embellish this historical account by more relevant facts, but I can't think of anymore than those already provided. Suggestions? -- Spiderzed 20:33, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

an NPov opening. I dont really now which Cobra is which. --Ross Less Ness Enter Stranger... 20:39, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Better? -- Spiderzed 20:57, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
better. All you need is an Aftermath section at the end to how how this changed the game for ever. --Ross Less Ness Enter Stranger... 21:24, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Here you go. It also contains Machiavelli quotes, and might contain some actual nuggets of wisdom. -- Spiderzed 13:51, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

Judging by that quote, is Goribus really twelve years old or is he just roleplaying? Love the Machiavelli reference by the way, the Prince is still on a "have to do" list of mine. --Thadeous Oakley Talk 22:46, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

You should give it high priority. The Prince is a very short and easy to read handbook. The Discorsi, the other and more complete book, is longer and harder to grasp, as it makes a lot of references to ancient history and current events in Renaissance Italy that were common knowledge among scholars of that time and area, but are obscure knowledge today. In either case, the extra bucks for an annotated version are well-spent money. -- Spiderzed 13:32, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Timeline

Should I add this event to Project Timeline? Other than March of The Dead 2, this was about the only interesting thing that happened in 2011 (sans Nazi Zombie fake battles and a few odd events like October Bash 2, the non-noteworthy Samhain Slaughter 5 and Harman for the Holidays 2). ~Vsig.png 19:30, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Go ahead. The exact dates should be in the arbies case, which I can dig up if necessary. -- Spiderzed 21:02, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
June 8th, 2011 seems to be the beginning of hostilities. Agreed? ~Vsig.png 21:15, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that would be it. -- Spiderzed 21:27, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
Done. Let teh dramaz commence. ~Vsig.png 22:21, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Another thought on the why...

In all fairness.. Annabell's Cobra began the conflict with a very concise meta victory, as there was no way to directly oppose it. So, whereas Sally's Cobra was placed into a defensive position of victory by survival, due to the statements of some of the other Cobra; Annabell's group had established domination as the victory condition, again due to those same statements. Simply, one group entered the conflict riding high on a meta victory but with utterly ridiculous victory conditions. The other need only continue as they had been for quite some time. Whether the initial victory followed by an unavoidable stalemate of game combat discouraged members of Annabell's Cobra or the victory conditions were set too high, there is more to the disintegration of the Annabell's Cobra than the nature of their formation, imo. --K 23:01, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

By concise meta victory, do you mean the coup? ~Vsig.png 01:04, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it was both a surprise and completely effective, a level of success unmatched in the further activities. --K 02:20, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Ah. I can't really imagine how I might feel in that situation. Probably pretty defeated in the moment. But from an outside perspective, it looked like Sally's faction recovered well enough. New forum was up and running rather quickly and coordination didn't appear to skip a beat. I can see how it could be viewed a victory in the overall war, though. ~Vsig.png 02:31, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Possibly surprisingly, I think the more common feeling was "fuck these guys, who do they think they are." Definitely the organic nature of the group was the reason Sally's faction was able to recover so quickly, but I think the early easy victory of the other Cobra gave a false sense of how much fight there was to be had. --K 03:08, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
oh god someone post a link on gorbi's talk page. i can't wait to hear how he spins this.--User:Sexualharrison07:52, 30 December 2012
At that point we had already been fed up with the limitations of Proboards, and had plans to relocate to a better forums software. All that was required at that point was to rush the remaining preps and push it. -- Spiderzed 13:26, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
If you say so. I can recall it being mentioned prior to that. I don't remember any planning. But would you agree, that was the most successful aspect of the civil war for them? Everything else, the wiki and in-game, ended up being pretty equal. And again, they had promised annihilation; whereas, we had just promised to not be annihilated. One of those is far easier to achieve. --K 14:46, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
