Consume Living (unrelated to my past suggestion of the same name)

Timestamp: Reaper with no name 02:09, 25 October 2006 (BST)
Type: Skill
Scope: Zombies
Description: In most zombie movies, when a zombie kills a person they will proceed to gnaw on the body a little and then leave them to turn into a zombie. This suggestion is supposed to go along those same lines. It's a subskill of Digestion, and has no effects for survivors.

The gist of it is, if a zombie kills a survivor with a bite attack, the zombie gets twice as much HP than it would have gotten otherwise (in other words, 8 HP instead of 4 HP). It's a pretty small boost and won't happen very often (unless the zombie specifically chooses to continually use the less effective of it's two attacks), but I think it would be a nice touch to the game nonetheless.

So, what do you guys think? Like it? Hate it? Think it's a dupe? Then tell me here, or else I just might put it on the suggestions page proper.

Doesn't seem to bad. Factors including having to make a KILL with a bite and the fact that "most zombies don't worry about HP." And that last part is where you are going to have the most kill/spam reasonings.--Pesatyel 04:23, 25 October 2006 (BST)

Yeah, I've thought about that. My hope is that the fact that it's not a very big boost will make people go "heck, why not?" and vote keep. I mean, most zombies use bites when they're low on HP anyway, so this is just a natural progression of that. --Reaper with no name 14:51, 25 October 2006 (BST)

Well, I actually LIKE the suggestion. Doesn't appear to be overpowered nor is the bonus HP all that much.--Pesatyel 04:33, 26 October 2006 (BST)

It's pretty inoffensive. My biggest concern is that you would get a few kill votes because people feel it wouldn't be worth spending 100 ep on. It might work better as an adjustment to the digestion skill itself, rather than a new skill. The Mad Axeman 10:18, 27 October 2006 (BST)

Perhaps, but new skills are usually greated well (gotta have SOMETHING to spend all that wasted XP on).--Pesatyel 01:36, 29 October 2006 (BST)

Hmm...some mathcraft here (I do that a lot). By standing up, a zombie gets at least 3.33 Hp per AP. With this, it gets 30% x 8 = 2.4 Hp per AP. Sorry, it's still inferior - I wouldn't use it. I suggest increasing the Hp gain to something like 12-14, hence giving 3.6 to 4.2 Hp per AP. Unfortunately, I greatly suspect it'll then get shot down for being overpowered, even if you stick the math under people's noses. -- Ashnazg 0543 (GMT), 30 October 2006

Acidic Vomit/Bite

Timestamp: Reaper with no name 16:54, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Type: Skill
Scope: Zombies
Description: Subskill of digestion. Haven't decided yet whether or not I'm going to make this a vomit or a bite. In any case, the zombie gets a third attack they can choose, Acidic Vomit/Bite. This attack will do 10 7 damage and have a 30% hit chance. The problem, though, is that they can only hit with this attack once per day (doesn't count if they miss). Zombies get to hit with this attack once per day (doesn't count if they miss), plus one hit for each survivor they have killed with a bite that day. However, they cannot hit with this attack more than 3 times a day, no matter what.

The idea is that this is supposed to be sort of the zombie equivalent to firearms, complete with a limitation on how often it can be used (ie ammo). It also won't have an effect on barricades.

This suggestion is still in it's early creation stages, and so a lot of the details (mainly the numbers) are subject to change. Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated.

I kind of like this, it's like the shotgun of zombie attacks. Weaken them up first, then hit em with weaker attacks.--Grigori 20:10, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I would suggest you get to use a powerful attack once per survivor killed that AP cycle? Get a bit of a rampage going. But 10 is likely to be spaminated- reduce it to 7 or thereabouts for a better chance. --Karloth vois RR 01:54, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Eh, that could potentially lead to a single zombie getting to use the attack a lot of times in a single day. In terms of probability, it's unlikely, but people here don't listen to math that deals with probability most of the time. A flat rate would do much better with them. One thing my limited experience here has taught me is that you have to compromise your artistic vision to appease the masses. And even then they'll still vote spam half the time. --Reaper with no name 02:16, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

"compromise your artistic vision" i.e. stop posting crap! Any zombie skill granting a 10dmg attack will be destroyed on the suggestions page. Seriously- anything above 7 (and even that) will not stand more than 2 minutes. As for the once a day? Seems fairly pointless, really. I would link it to something, and survivors killed that day seems a good way of rewarding the more active zombies. And yes, but how many zombies kill more than 3 people a day? Even with this skill? --Karloth vois RR 02:45, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Whether or not a suggestion is "good" is highly subjective. Saying my suggestions are crap isn't any more or less valid than saying that the suggestions sitting in peer reviewed are crap. Personally, I don't see why people would shoot this down for the reason of damage, when it's nothing more than a weak version of the survivor's shotgun, however I will consider lowering the damage and tweaking the "ammo system". --Reaper with no name 03:30, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm...thinking about making it do 7 damage and make it one use per day plus one for each survivor killed with a bite that day (but can't use it more than 3 times per day no matter what). Would you all prefer that? --Reaper with no name 17:55, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

There was a similar suggestion that, basically, the zombie could "store" a vomit attack by biting targets. The zombie would get 1 "vomit attack" they could use after successfully using Digestion, with up to 4 attacks that could be "stored" or something like that. I don't have the time to look it up, but I will when I get the chance.--Pesatyel 02:24, 1 November 2006 (UTC) Dang, almost wish I had thought of that. Almost, since it would have ended up being a dupe. Plus, one of the benefits of this idea is that it would give finally give survivor flak jackets a purpose other than defending against PKer attacks. --Reaper with no name 14:20, 1 November 2006 (UTC) All right, I decided to make the changes I was thinking about. I'm also leaning towards making this a type of bite, since it makes more sense with regards to the fact that it only counts if it hits and has no effect on barricades. --Reaper with no name 15:36, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
