Proposed Murderball Rules

  • A 'match' is a 5 day long event between two teams of players who score 'goals' by killing members of the opposing team.
  • Team rosters are filed before the match on the match wiki site, only those players on the roster can score goals, and only those players count towards goals being scored.
  • Each match is played in a specific suburb, mutually agreed upon by competing teams.
  • A specific building in the match suburb is selected as HOME .
  • Each team supplies (1) referee whose job is to spend the entire match observing HOME .
  • Each member of each team is required to TOUCH HOME twice during the competition.
  • TOUCHING HOME is accomplished by speaking in the building so that the two referees can record a 'touch' for that player. Referees will record touches at the match wiki site.
  • A player may not 'touch home' twice within the same 24 hour period.
  • A player who fails to 'touch home' twice within the time limit of the match has all goals and assists disqualified.
  • Goals are confirmed by the scoring player and the 'dropped' player posting on the match wiki site the time and location of the 'goal.' An Iwitness posting is helpful, but not required.
  • 'Assists' have no bearing on the match result and are awarded by a goal scorer to a fellow teammate who has scouted the location of an opposing player.
  • The team with the most goals wins. A win is worth (3) points, a tie is worth (1) point and a loss is worth (0) points. Length of a Murderball season is to be determined.
  • Using zerg scouts is not permitted. Non-participating group members are encouraged to avoid the playing area during match play. Allied groups are likewise encouraged to remain neutral during match play.
  • Players may roam anywhere in Malton, their only restriction is that they are required to touch home twice during a match.
  • Killed players may be revived by any means at their disposal.
  • Players cannot score goals while they are zombies. However they can still wreak havoc however they desire.
  • Goals cannot be scored against a zombified player.
  • A dose of trash talk is strongly recommended before each kill as a nod towards the spirit of the game.
  • Pre-game meet and greet: opposing players shall meet at home prior to the match beginning. Matches begin at 8am EST with a 4 hour no-score window. This gives players 4 hours to move out of home and secure positions. Open season begins at 12 noon EST of match day. Players are encouraged to trash talk during the meet and greet. The meet and greet is a no-kill time period. Punching during a meet and greet is allowed provided it does not reduce a player below 50 hp.

Comments on the rules as written are welcomed.

Writer's notes: I have written the touch home rules into match play as I see no way of policing a requirement that all players restrict their movements to one suburb. Using a 'home base' with required touches means that players have to enter the match area several times during the competition. --Shazzelim 01:10, 30 May 2008 (BST)

Your schedule is too small

The league will fine your team if you don't expand your schedule. What would the NFL say if the Ravens refused to play anybody but the Bengals and Steelers? It's great to have fans, but don't front like you can ball on our level. --The Malton Globetrotters#19 - DrPain TMG 18:34, 27 May 2008 (BST)

Site is still under construction brother. Got to start somewhere. --Shazzelim 21:10, 27 May 2008 (BST)
That isn't our official line up - use the one on our talk page. And I know I have more than 1 kill! The ref is blind! --The Malton Globetrotters #99 DCC SNACK STRONG 00:26, 28 May 2008 (BST)
The ref is worse than blind, he's on the VZW squad. Bias? Yes please.--The Malton Globetrotters#19 - DrPain TMG 03:50, 28 May 2008 (BST)
Let me know who you claim to have dropped on the VZW squad between 05/26 and 05/29 and the score will be ammended properly. I am only counting goals scored on opposing players on the Blades or the Trotters. --Shazzelim 11:01, 28 May 2008 (BST)
Oh, VZW members? I thought you were tracking our kills for the whole season. You know, maybe we could negotiate a serious game between the two teams.
  • have the game at a neutral location
  • tip off at reset
  • each player must make 3 - 5 trash talk speeches
  • team doctors nearby to rezz
  • all players must spend all AP on the court.
(the next day is a by day and we go our separate ways peacefully after signing autographs and taking pictures with the kids) Contact Robots. I think he is our scheduling coordinator.--The Malton Globetrotters #99 DCC SNACK STRONG 11:23, 28 May 2008 (BST)
A serious game would be awesome -- let's definitely discuss the technical aspects. I'll post some thoughts on rules after discussing the matter with the VZW. I'll post a link on Robots talk page when I do. By the way, looks like we got one day left in our match -- who's gonna win? --Shazzelim 21:40, 28 May 2008 (BST)
  • Side note: I will ammend the Trotters roster per your suggestion when I have some free time. We can always call this match preseason and re-up for an official match once we all agree on the rules. --Shazzelim 11:03, 28 May 2008 (BST)
