Open to hearing ideas on this. It is my first Wiki template. --Fuzzytek 21:52, 16 Sep 2005 (BST)

The Journal entry assumes that journals will only be kept within this wiki, which I assure you is not the case. The addition of "Next Skill" doesn't seem very useful as I doubt many people are sure of what the next skill they are going to get is. Why not list what skills they already have? and no level? and then "Character Profile: Urban Dead profile" is duplicitious, drop that character profile bit. And the title at the top "Information" is patently useless as it is quite obvious that what follows is information (this needs to be removed from the groups template too) -- GIR 22:52, 16 Sep 2005 (BST)

Working on the suggestions. Advantage of journal in the Wiki is offering contextual reference links for people unfamiliar with descriptions in the journal. --Fuzzytek 23:44, 16 Sep 2005 (BST)
I'm betting that if someone has an external journal, they could link to it just fine from this box. --otherlleft 01:52, 17 Sep 2005 (BST)

You think you could get rid of the zombie alternatives and just have a catch-all class thing? Same for equipment, too. They seem rather unnecessary to me, when a zombie could just put Zombie as their class. --Daxx 00:58, 17 Sep 2005 (BST)

Done. If you have a zombie alt, add another box. --Katthew 01:08, 17 Sep 2005 (BST)

Here I am, working in a vacuum, trying out making Template:Journalbox with not a clue what you were doing here. --otherlleft 01:28, 17 Sep 2005 (BST)

At first I thought I had just duplicated your work, but now I don't. This template seems best suited when the character and username are identical. Granted, I haven't looked at User:Fuzzytek to check to see if you have boxes for all your characters. Regardless, the journal box specifically doesn't duplicate anything found in the UD profile - which I clearly need to link to from that template, like you did. --otherlleft 01:52, 17 Sep 2005 (BST)

I moved the categories to this page. Categorizing a template automatically categorizes every page that uses it. --otherlleft 01:48, 17 Sep 2005 (BST)

At first the template had no float to the right. So the multiple boxes on my User:fuzzytek page were inline boxes, that were 95% width. If the intent of float to the right is 'desired' for template boxes... then multiple template uses on a page creates skewed box upon box on the page. Inline boxes don't skew as floated multiple boxes do. I'll remove the float just to offer example on my User:Fuzzytek page.--Fuzzytek 09:41, 17 Sep 2005 (BST)

I copy and pasted your work onto my journal page and changed all the info to my own. But in the journal field I enter my name and when I save the page its just bold text. My character name is EverettEby, same as my own. I think its the second capital thats throwing it off, so I change it to lower case. The only problem there is now it doesnt link back to my actual journal page. Is this an error, or is wiki just that picky? --EverettEby 11:23, 19 october 2005 (EST)

You're trying to link to the page within itself (the template example instructs you to do it with the "[URL|Journal] or [[Journal:character|Journal]]|" part), the wiki doesn't let you do that. Just comes out as bolded text(ex: Template talk:Character). You can change this by just entering your name alone, without all the brackets and such. There's another template made for journal pages, Template:Journalbox, I think that one might suit your needs better, but you can use whichever one you like. --Raelin 04:32, 20 Oct 2005 (BST)
I'm using the Template:Journalbox inside the journal to link back to the character. This template is for your User page, click my name in the signature and you'll see better --Fuzzytek 15:36, 21 Oct 2005 (BST)
Is there any way to show Group affilation on the character page? --Technerd 08:58, 7 Dec 2005 (PST)

For those who miss some character details, I created a new template: Template:Profile. An example can be viewed at Template_talk:Profile. --Inte 07:47, 30 Jan 2006 (GMT)

It wasnt displaying all the Variables so I fixed that. --Technerd 05:26, 20 April 2006 (BST)

Would it be acceptable to delinkify the character class and character equipment? Some users have used nonstandard class names or stated more than one item which creates links to nonexistant pages. Then in an effort to not have red links on their page, the users fill the pages with information. See "survivalist hippie" and "Fire Axe and Shotgun". --Lint 21:15, 15 May 2006 (BST)

I find that the Stats part is rather redundant because you can just go to their profile and see how many times they've died. Other things that could go in that place seem pointless, not many people are going to be looking for how many revives someone has done. I think that that space would be better suited to list Skills that the character has, while I'm aware you can just do that yourself and put them there, I'd just want it to say "Skills" instead of "Stats" you know. If you look at my profile, you can see what I mean. --CaptainM 02:21, 9 June 2006 (BST)

New Template

So, i discovered a neat feature on css/firefox today, that i already added to a dozen pages. Now, i have worked the below layout for this template. You can see it in action in my sandbox page. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 01:17, 22 September 2006 (BST)
