Basic Info:

  • A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street, except that players with the Tagging skill can gain 2 XP for writing graffiti on a monument.
  • This is, game-play wise, an empty block, and cannot be barricaded.
  • After the July 3, 2009 update, some monuments became tall and can be seen from a distance with binoculars

The Kilminster Monument

Description

Humans and zombies alike will see the following (permanent) description when standing in front of the monument:

"You are at the Kilminster Monument, a bronze statue plastered with quarantine posters."

History

Kilminster (first name unknown) was a 'renowned' sculptor whose works are exhibited throughout Malton. In actuality, he was both talentless and extremely wealthy, simply buying plots of land and dropping his latest work down on them. This sculpture, Self-Portrait in Bronze, is a three-meter-tall collection of bronze pipes, cubes, and sheets. Without the accompanying plaque, it would be impossible to know what it's meant to represent.

The only thing that stopped it from being looted during the outbreaks was its sheer size and, as one local criminal put it, "where the bl--dy h-ll am I even supposed to start?" It was repurposed as a public noticeboard, taking advantage of the large amount of flat space. Now it only sees the occasional zombie who stares blankly at the object; which is still more viewers than it had before the outbreak.
