The Maddaford Family
The Maddaford Family was one of the Top Five Families of the Stanbury Village mafia. When Jimmy Maddaford died his family bought the local garden and turned it into Maddaford Grove.
Jimmy Maddaford
Jimmy Maddaford was the top dog in the Maddaford crime family. His father, Roger Maddaford, was once part of the Johnstone family. When Jimmy was in his late 20s he broke off from the The Johnstone Family and created his own family. With the help of his three best friends Paulie Wyld, Timmy "The Kicker" Ratchek, and Johnny "Bats" Bullor, they soon took over western Stanbury Village that once was owned by the Johnstone's.
The gang ran their business inside Club Twycrosse and made a fortune in the drug, gambling, and prostitution rackets. Byt the end of the 1920s they had nearly 100 foot soldiers patrolling their controlled areas.
Jimmy Maddaford took headlines in 1935 when he bombed the Pound Place School when The McCulloch Family and The Lorenze Family were meeting there. Jimmy was not charged because of his charisma and charm. He talked the police out of arresting him but instead arrest Rocky McCulloch. Police Chief Bunney and Captain Daynes made arresting the five families a person vendetta.
In WWII Maddaford dodged the draft saying he was needed more in Stanbury Village than in Africa.
Paulie Wyld
Paulie Wyld was Jimmy Maddaford's right hand man. A big man at 260 lbs and 6 feet and 8 inches. He was known for being shot 16 times in the chest and surviving. Later on he was arrested for crushing a man's skull in while he was still alive. Paulie was later acquitted after they couldn't prove that he was there at that time.
Paulie Wyld was owner of the Twycrosse Club and used it as the Maddaford's base of operations. During one raid from the Johnstone Family, Paulie dispatched all intruders with one bar stool.
Timmy "The Kicker" Ratchek
Timmy "The Kicker" Ratchek was a small, decieving, sneak of a man. Maddaford knew he couldn't be trusted but kept him along because of his ability to spy. Timmy was small enough to fit in the vents of fellow mob bosses' buildings to spy on them. He got his name because whenever he got into a fight he'd only kick. Could have been a football (soccer) player if it wasn't for his small stature.
Johnny "Bats" Bullor
Johnny "Bats" Bullor was Jimmy Maddaford's childhood friend. Bats got his nickname because he was smashed in the back of the skull with a baseball bat but survived. After that he could no longer feel pain and was partially blind in his left eye.
The End of the Family
Like all the other Five Families of Stanbury Village, they met their end at The Great April Fool's Day Massacre. The Maddaford Family heard that The Cabell Family were going to rob The Lorenzo Family at the warehouse. When the Maddaford Family showed up the two Families were already firing at each other. Following the Maddaford Family were The Johnstone Family and The McCulloch Family.
This turned into a huge bloody fight with nearly 450 men dead. Paulie Wyld was shot 39 times in the chest and finally went down when a fire axe hit him in the back of the head. Timmy Ratchek was crushed when one of the stacked boxes fell onto him. Johnny Bats was the last of the Maddaford's to be killed when he was close-lined with a lead pipe.
At the end of the fight Police Chief Bunney and Captain Daynes arrested the Five Family leaders. Controversy erupted when it was found out that the two cops waited for them to kill each other so that they could clean up the rest. No charges were filed against them since they said they were looking out for their own safety.
Jimmy Maddaford was sentenced to jail for life in one of Shackleville's old prisons. He later escaped but was killed by police chasing him.
