Sysops on this wiki are appointed more or less for life. The only syops that have been demoted are ones that have asked to be (Jedaz, Odd Starter, Xoid, Myself) and ones who really fucked up (Odd Starter, Amazing). This needs to change. Community opinion of a person changes over time, so there needs to be some kind of performance review system for sysops. This policy attempts to establish just that.

Every 3 months every sysop who has been a sysop for more than 3 months will go through a performance review. The first performance review will occur the moment this policy is passed. The format for the performance review will be as follows:

  • All sysops will be listed either on A/PM or another page created specifically for this purpose
  • Users may vouch, vote against or simply explain their position on the candidate's reelection to their previous position.
  • After 2 weeks, all discussion ends and the attending bureaucrat(s) will decide whether to keep each sysop or demote him due to an unfavorable performance review.
It must be noted that should a bureaucrat be up for a performance review, he may not be part of the decision to keep/demote himself. Should there be only one active bureaucrat, Kevan will review the bureaucrat in question and make the appropriate decision.

Favorable performance reviews result in the user keeping their status. Unfavorable reviews result in demotion to normal user status. If a user loses their status this way, they can regain it in a month by creating a new bid on A/PM as if they were requesting sysop status for the first time.

This policy is an effort to create some kind of accountability for our sysops. I got away with a *ton* of shit on this wiki, but if I knew I would have been up for a performance review in a few months, I definitely would have acted better.--Gage 23:07, 12 May 2007 (BST)
