Introduction

Right now I think the biggest problem with arbitration is it is not being used for its intended purpose, which is the maintenance of NPOV editing. The arbitration page has slowly changed from settling edit disputes to settling user disputes. This basically lets arbiters enforce rules that don't exist on charges which have no merit. The community at large votes on rules and moderators enforce them. If the community deems it neccesary to make rules they should do so, not leave it in the hands of one randomly chosen user. In my section of the "wikigate" case there wasn't a single edit conflict anywhere in the charges. Calling this process "arbitration" is a farce when it is increasingly being wielded like a box cutter by one person against another. Arbitration should be reformed so it only has juristiction over one thing, edit conflicts. |
This great piece of wisdom is written here in this wiki ever since May, and we have done nothing to solve the problem with the arbitration page.
Random Words
Right now, arbitration serves only one purpose: create Drama.
People file arbitration cases against others to solve personal conflicts, while this wasn't the way things were supposed to be. The arbitration is a place to solve things like:
- settle conflicts on how dangerous a suburb is, since the harmans say its safe while the zambas says they are very dangerous...
- settle conflicts involving the NPOV sections of group pages, conflicts in suburb news
- things like bullying should be treated as vandalism, since they are clearly made in bad faith, and any kind of bullying made by mods are to treated as misconduct...
