UDWiki:Open Discussion/Administration Archives
The Problem
If you look through the Administration pages you will find that the formatting for the archive pages for the various pages is set up slightly differently. Some of the pages are sorted incorrectly or are inordinately long and are uncategorized.
The Proposal
I propose that we create category pages for each of the major administration pages and standardize how the pages are archived in order to make browsing them easier.
Which Pages Would This Affect?
- Deletions Archive
- Speedy Deletions Archive
- Undeletions Archive
- Vandal Banning (which doesn't have a main archive page)
- Protections Archive
- More Requests Archive
- Arbitration Archive
- Misconduct Archive
How Would They Change?
Each of the archive pages would move to their corresponding archive category:
- Deletions Archive -> Deletions Archive
- Speedy Deletions Archive -> Speedy Deletions Archive
- Undeletions Archive -> Undeletions Archive
- Vandal Banning Archive -> Vandal Banning Cases Archive
- Protections Archive -> Protections Archive
- Move Requests Archive -> Move Requests Archive
- Arbitration Archive -> Arbitration Cases Archive
- Misconduct Archive - >Misconduct Cases Archive
Then each of the category pages would receive their own navigation template, such as Template:Deletearchivenav and Template:Speedydeletearchivenav, with a description of what the category contains. Each of the individual pages that are archived would be categorized appropriately, sorted by month (save for misconduct), and follow the Move Requests format (YYYY_MM) for their page archive name (again, save for misconduct).
Here are some of the individual changes that I propose to all of the pages:
Deletions
- Renaming of the archive pages to follow the common month format.
- The summation and categorization of all of the pages.
Speedy Deletions
A simple renaming of the archive pages to follow the common month format and categorization.
Undeletions
- The creation of a monthly archive for requests (2006 has 56 cases alone) that follows the common month format.
- Sorting of all of the requests (the 2006 archive is massively out of order).
- The creation of the undeletion navigation template.
- The summation and categorization of all of the pages.
Vandal Banning
- Renaming of the archive pages to follow the common month format and categorization.
- Possibly creating a more comprehensive vandal data page that tracks all of the cases that are opened against a user.
Protections
- The creation of a monthly archive for requests (2006 has 74 cases alone) that follows the common month format.
- The creation of the protection navigation template.
- The summation and categorization of all of the pages.
Move Requests
- Renaming of the archive pages to follow the common month format and categorization.
Arbitration
- The arbitration page archive would change to be a simple list in alphabetical order, followed by the date the case was put forth.
- Example:Midianian vs. Karek - 20:28, 21 October 2008
- This would reduce the size of the Arbitration main page and will keep the page size to a minimum as time passes. The current individual summaries for the cases could be placed at the top of the cases themselves, allowing someone to quickly glance at the case and see what it was about.
- The creation of the Arbitration navigation template.
- The summation (see the first bullet point) and categorization of all of the pages.
Misconduct
- The categorization of all of the pages, by type and individual name.
- Sorting out the individual pages to follow Hagnat's model.
- Each of the sysops having their own sub-category that lists all of the cases that have been brought against them.
- The creation of the Misconduct navigation template, which is sorted by sysop name (linking to their sub-category page) and not by month.
