You are in a bog, a network of creeks and heavy overgrowth. A rotting boardwalk connects the way west to a lookout tower nearby. The air you breathe feels corrosive on your lungs.
Some areas are too deep to traverse. Others, with dense root systems and knotted vegetation, are passable. There are ways through to the west and south-east.
- You walk heavily, knocking cattail aside. Where the green earth ends and many creeks begin, it is hard to tell. The air seems denser. Your feet find a boardwalk and you collapse atop it.
You are having difficulty breathing. The air stings and clogs your lungs, and miniature droplets of blood coat the area around your mouth. Through the bog, you don't think you can make it out—as much as you need to get out of this air. Perhaps it is better higher up in the lookout tower, which is in reach should you want to climb it. Or, you could follow the boardwalk deeper in; perhaps you see something out there in the haze.
Possible actions:
- Proceed down the boardwalk west Climb the lookout tower
Inventory:
- You carry only a bent knife and a smashed radio. It has been a long ride. Your blue jeans are shredded; the T-shirt, stretched 2 sizes larger, is more red than white, and your shoes are unaccounted for. You wear a crumpled paper party hat.
