You are downtown amidst tall corporate towers, condominiums, banks, and expensive hotels. Behind the doors and windows of Morliere Towers is a barricade. A narrow path has been cleared between hundreds of jam-packed vehicles.
Somebody has spraypainted CLEARED above a doorway to the Farbrother Building.
- The corpse that stares behind the insubstantial door seems content to stare. The face you see has not decomposed that far. Muscles pull its cheeks taught as it forms an unrecognizable expression; the mouth, open and pressed forward, breathes nothing on the clear glass. The teeth are recently brushed and the gums, pink and not inflamed; they protrude past its curled lips. Eyes, still with their whites, meet yours.
You suppose if it leans heavily enough and for long enough, it will eventually break the glass.
