You are at a ruined monument in the center of a roundabout. Little of the granite statue remains. Desiccated ornamental shrubs encircle the defaced base of the monument.
- You say, "Hey! Don't leave!" The man keeps walking all the same; you take a few steps after him, thinking to grab his shoulder and turn him around. You think better of this, considering he is still armed, and decide to let him go.
The man disappears within the building he emerged. Barely a person around and all he does is leave without saying a word.
How could he?
This wasn't a proper mugging. Did you do something wrong? You probably should have given him your radio. You don't know why you carry it around anymore.
His face quickly fades from your mind; the encounter left no lasting mark. The sudden rise of excitement, fear, puzzlement rapidly reverts to the dull blended grey of sameness—an inattentive taking-in of the surroundings that changes nothing within. There is still the rubble, the weeds, the blackness behind the windows, the empty in-betweens. There is still C-R-E.
Possible actions:
- Leave the area
Inventory:
- You carry only a smashed radio. It has been a long ride. Your blue jeans are shredded; the T-shirt, stretched 2 sizes larger, is more red than white, and your shoes are unaccounted for. You wear a crumpled paper party hat.
