You are within the central stairwell of the Harold Hotel. The floor is marble. The stairwell winds upward in a spiral, leaving open space in the middle and yielding a skylight at the top. The floor and stairs are flecked with fresh blood.
Somebody has spraypainted NO DOORS OFF STAIRWELL — NO 'CADES around a marble fountain.

- You pull the revolver out from your belt and fire before aiming, the bullet striking a concrete pillar. Bill runs by, and he gives you a nod, as if to say, ‘You’re courageous.’ At least that is what you think.
You shoot again, hitting the dead young woman in the shoulder. You squeeze the trigger more carefully, and hit her in the head.
Criid passes you, then Anton. You fire again, hitting something in the advancing mass of dead flesh. They may be getting too close. You take a step back. You stumble slightly.
One zombie catapults itself onto your leg, smacking its head against your thigh. You push down on it, feeling its mushy face slobber puss and peeled skin onto you. You put a bullet in its head point-blank. One shot left, two dozen zombies.
