Avatorous ***** Unusual, to say the least, and passionately loyal Fortress veteran. A highly skilled artist who volunteered to redo the mission awards and become the team graffiti artist. Created the higher rank badges, Fortress desktops, and essentially designed and hosted Fortress Radio Boom. A true Renaissance Man, he also ran the bar downstairs at Trong's Tavern with poise, wit and genuine interest in his patrons. At FP07 he was awarded "Fortress Finest" and nominated as most LOL Character. He was voted into the Fortress Council in October 2007 and soon after became a Forum Moderator. In January 2008 he took another big step and became Commander of his own team, Excalibur - the first fully role-playing Fortress team. His extensive immersion in the group lead to a sudden, passionate farewell speech in March 2008, in which he cited RL conflicts. Ava returned again to resume his role in April briefly but became an honored Combat Veteran upon the team's dissolution. In Sept 2008, he joined up with Team Anaconda. He was awarded Fortress Legend at FP8 and left to follow his own path and "recapture the magic" in Nov 2008. A true Fortress Legend, he returned in July 2009 to a cozy spot on the Combat Vets team before reuniting with the Battlehawks in Oct '09. In Dec '09, he was promoted to Havoc Lord and also won a seat on the Fortress Council before being reelected for a third term again in July 2010. Ava rejoined Dark Watch in Nov '10 and was rumored to have slipped out of the city, but returned to his team by the end of Dec '10. In Aug '11, Ava went in search of something he had lost... no one knows what he sought, but on Halloween 2011, the Shadow King returned to serve in Dark Watch once again.
Ziggy * The imaginary, possibly psychopathic, friend of Avatorous. Invisible to all but had been a very powerful influence on Fortress comings and goings. Combat Trooper.
Fortress Finests - FP7 - Sep 2007 Avatorous (and Ziggy) Once in a while The Fortress gains a new member that brings a unique talent and refreshing variety to the group. When JavaElemental joined she brought along her husband, Avatorous and he brought along his imaginary, invisible friend, Ziggy. It was a 3 for 1 hit and The Fortress was the overall winner! Avatorous dramatically arrived in Boot Camp with an exceptional but unique (often animated) cartoon-style of reporting (thanks Ziggy), combined with an attitude of professionalism and helpfulness. He was quickly promoted to a combat squad. Avatorous progressed in Team Anaconda as smoothly and successfully as he had in Boot Camp and quickly became an essential part of the team. His humor, and especially visual comedy, has become a key part of Fortress life and we all eagerly await each new production with bated breath. The is-he-or-isn't-he-real Ziggy debate was an especially memorable episode of Trong Tran's history with a mysterious but insinuated and controversial shocking conclusion. (Check page 221 onwards of the Downstairs topic) What else has Avatorous brought to The Fortress, you may ask? How about this for an answer. He's set up and maintained a Fortress Radio station with guest DJ sessions by some of you lucky people, professionally created official Fortress Desktops as well as operational ribbons, banners and badges. Ava's taken over Trong Tran's tavern and turned it into the most sociable and active forum in Malton! His episodic cartoons are already amazing us, as is his thoroughly intriguing Ice Cream Truck party adventure, and his work as a PK Archiver - he recently fully re-organized the PK Files to perfection. It shows that he has a flair to become a future forum moderator and we can only guess what this creative genius has in store for us in future! Avatourous's combination of creativity and professionalism, combined with a real passion to make a difference makes Avatorous stand out from the rest. One thing is for certain, The Fortress is the place to be - it must be, cos Ziggy said so! -Jensonson
Fortress Legend Avatorous - Hail to the Fortress's King In Summer 2007 Avatorous arrived at The Fortress as a great storm brewed up in Malton. Maybe it was an omen to the power and influence that this Fortress recruit would soon bring unto us. Avatorous was to become Commander, King - and Legend. Who is Avatorous? An inspirational person to speak to, lesser mortals would agree, as he casually contemplates huge concepts with a genuine passion and dedication to make them a reality. One such idea was the invention of Radio BOOM - The Fortress's own radio station. Another was the invention of roleplaying guild, Excalibur - a unit of The Fortress that changed the lives of some; its influence will secure the creative writing of this group's future, which will in turn better the lives of us all. Avatorous arrived with his mysterious (whisper it carefully) imaginary friend, Ziggy, and impressed (or stunned) Boot Camp with crayola-graphic reports and insane murmurings. But don't all geniuses have their flaws? Avatorous, and Ziggy, were soon promoted to Anaconda (who could forget Ava's 'promotion note') and began to build lives in the combat squads. It wasn't long before Ava's excellent skills were being utilized to great effect as Ambassador, Moderator and Councilor. Avatorous was tremendous in all of these roles; as Councilor he helped secure the crucial Ally Policy that ultimately led to our solid Chain of Allies, and also proposed the reopening of Dark Watch. Ava also updated so many aspects of The Fortress forum, from Trong Tran's Tavern (which he owned), to a complete overhaul of our graphics, the introduction of forums like The Station, the RP theater, the introduction of BOOM, Fortress desktops and of course his ultimate masterpiece, Team Excalibur. Avatorous was the brainchild behind Excalibur and he set about building a team capable of producing new Fortress writings and roleplays - the whole concept was invented, shaped and commanded by Avatorous which made him the King of Excalibur. But quite apart from this ingenious concept, Avatorous had steered the group to new heights and its aspirations were raised as sudden new possibilities were realized. The Fortress has never known, before or since, anyone quite like Avatorous. As bright rays of sunlight burst through the storm and directly upon The Fortress, we all looked on as an especially bright beam hit the face of Avatorous and we recognized a Legend in our own time. -Jensonson
