Having adopted the name of a television show character to conceal her true identity, nobody is sure what Calleigh Duquesne's real name is. Even her boyfriend before the outbreak, OneArmedBandit, seems to have forgotten. Of course, he's kind of a doofus, so that detail might be insignificant.

In fact, OneArmedBandit is the reason Calleigh Duquesne wound up here in the first place. Bandit had vanished a year before she arrived, and Calleigh had assumed him dead until she received a brief, blood flecked letter in his handwritting:

"I have been unable to contact you for a long time, and I am sorry. Come to Malton - I have enclosed a plane ticket. You will love it here. There are fuzzy bunnies, cake, and awesome stuff all over the place. You totally won't die. ~Bandit"

That wasn't exactly a clever ruse, but it still worked, damn him.

Calleigh arrived to see a city in ruins, with living dead prowling for prey among heaps of rubble and partially eaten bodies. Calleigh adapted to this environment quickly, at an almost unnerving pace, actually. After the horrors that she endured on Arbor Day, Calleigh realized the need for more survivors and sent a letter of her own to Melancholy One.
