Background
I enlisted to the rangers way back in February of the last month, ever since I heard about the extra pay and the overseas tours that the Desert Rangers often included in their training program. Apparently this all went down in a major catastrophe, it would seem.
Following the last of my training run, I was transferred off to a platoon sent off to Malton, apparently investigating some sort of a civil unrest. Things were quiet to begin, the first few nights in Malton would be considered decent. The folks here had plenty of say, the shops ran late and the drinks were good. Like I said, things went straight to Hell before you know it.
Saturday night I was off duty and returning to the barracks, waltzing down the street near the East Grayside, window shopping - the sort of afterhours activities that most passerby's tend to do. Its not often that you find yourself watching a violent struggle between two civilians only for one of them to sink her teeth and tear out a mouthful of raw human flesh. This was the kind of stuff that they used to show during Halloween night back in the corps theatre way over at home.
Well, following the routine check, I fired a warning shot and immediately gave the civilian an order to stand down. The problem was that there were something in those eyes that just didn't feel quite right. Then I saw it - the giant neck wound that left pulsing muscle exposed to the air and the rotting flesh that crept all over her skin. I fired my gun.
Problem was that the gun itself didn't stop her. She'd kept limping at me as if though I had shot her with a pea shooter instead of hard lead. Then to my horror the male victim suddenly appeared to reanimate and stand up, the same dead look on his face like hers. I didn't stand there, I made for the hills.
The moment I turn around the corner the whole city is in havoc. This was the kind of stuff that the sergeant never briefed us about - reanimation, cannibalism, unstoppable anomalies...the "living" dead. If I ever make it back to Nevada, I'm calling it quits.
Worse, I'm trapped here in this building, with another set of survivors. I'm half aware that the probability of the rest of my platoon being alive is quite slim at this point but I've taken notice that there are several NDR symbols tagged along the theatres. Maybe some of us are still alive, afterall.
Regardless...First thing I do after I catch some shut eye, check the condition of this here Smith and Wesson I found off that poor dead cop, I'm leaving. If you see any of the others, tell them Lily was around. Thanks.
Appearance
Lily appears to be a young woman, approximately 5'7" tall and about 147 lbs. She has dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. She wears a white, blood-stained tank top, a pair of green combat fatigues, a pair of black combat boots and a pair of tipless gloves. She wears a dog tag that reads her name, rank and affiliation with her at all times. During the start of the outbreak, she was issued a Beretta 92SF which was later stolen by another survivor as she slept. She recovered a S&W .38 from the body of a dead rent-a-cop and has been using it since.
