In The Mind of Patrick MacManus
Prologue

It has been 19 years since the city of Malton had been secured. Since all of the survivors have been adequately evacuated, the murders obtained, and the zombies revived. 19 years ago the government washed over the city of Malton reviving all of the zombies and curing the curse that had plagued the city for years.

Since the recapture of the city, and the creation of the cure, there have been no cases of zombification from deaths of the survivors of the city. Almost all of the survivors who went about murdering others have been institutionalized. The ones who spent too much time as a zombie and have lost their minds have also been institutionalized.

I have been given special access to interview the survivors who were victims of Patrick MacManus' work. No other writer or reporter has been given the chance, though, to interview Patrick MacManus himself. He has been institutionalized in the Malton Asylum for the Mentally Unstable.

When I had made my way to the institute, I was taken aback by the huge stature of the building. The building looked as if it were many stories tall from the outside, but all of the windows were just used to adequately light the building during the day. The building is of legendary stature. The building takes up acres of land and even more for surrounding security and open yard for the inmates to have some form of fresh air if they are on good behavior.

Patrick's room seems to be in the darkest section. After going through a maze of hall ways I seem to have hit the heart of the institute. The darkest and worst murderers of Malton seem to live in this section. Roland Thompson the Headless Gunner, Pathetic Bill, Sonny Corleone, Matthew Aries, the list goes on and on.

There are guards posted at each end of every hall way. Doors with locks keeping them from even attempting to escape. It takes two guards to open each door, one on each side of the door. Even to get into a room it takes more than one guard to open the door. The guards open the door and let me in, one of them follows me in and the other two lock it from the outside.

As I step into the room my eyes have to adjust to the lighting. There are many light on keeping the room looking as if there was no roof. Once my eyes adjust I notice that two of the walls are covered with books. The other wall is covered in newspaper clippings and a painting. His bed is along the forth wall with the foot of it next to the door.

Patrick just like everyone else in Malton seems to not have aged a day since the quarantine. Necrotech seems to have ending any affects of aging, and curing most most diseases. Patrick no longer wears whatever clothing he was last seem in but wears a almost blinding orange jump suit with the numbers 1643514 and MAMU on the back.

He turns and looks at me after a he has finished reading what ever it was he was reading. He offers me a seat at a table that has been set up for the interview. He has not shown any emotion or said anything yet. Before I can introduce himself he speaks.

"I know that you are here to write about my work in Malton but I wish that you portray your work in a neutral light as to not make me look like a villain or a figure of evil. Merely tell each sides story."

His steely voice ever so menacing. I shudder to thing of what it would be like to be one of his victims and that is the last voice you hear before being forced into a world of undeath. He seemed reasonable yet demanding in his request.

"I must assure you that is how I am going to portray my work. I wish for the readers to form their own opinion about you and for the world to know of your work. Let me just say that I am really nervous to meet you and it is my pleasure to interview you." I respond.

"I am happy that you are telling the world of what happened inside of Malton from my point of view and the point of view of many others I have confronted. Now let us get underway." He says.
