Background
The archetypical mad scientist, Doc Ravage is a man with madness to his method...
History
Day Zero
Doc Ravage was training as a research assistant in the Percival Building in Judgewood when the alarms first sounded. He was too engrosed in his studies to pay much attention, however.
Late September 2007
New openings in NecroTech caused by the emergency gave Doc Ravage the opportunity to conduct a Project of his own. By now he had heard of the zombie crisis but saw it as little more than a scientific curiousity. He was initially interested in "zombification" as a potential form of immortality, but that interest subsided when he learned that becoming a zombie robbed one of both one's full intellect and, worse still, the ability to use tools. Doc considered these the only real reasons for deeming "zombiehood" undesirable.
Early October 2007
Doc Ravage commenced research on NecroTech's current development with the NecroTech syringe. A new Project had come to mind: that of creating a version of the syringe that could be used by zombies themselves. Such an advance would make living with "zombiehood" much less problematic.
Ravage knew, however, that he had yet to come up to speed with the company's current efforts in this area, and that some field work would be required as a pre-requisite to further training in this field. Such training was deemed highly desirable.
"Iz no use in ze re-inventing of ze wheel!"
Mid October 2007
No longer secure in the Percival Building's hidden bunkers, Doc Ravage experienced the terror of a zombie attack for the first time. He had just returned from a "tagging" trip to find that zombies were causing havoc in the lobby of the Percival Building itself. Being neither sufficiently equipped nor skilled to either revive or subdue them, Doc Ravage fled first the building, then the suburb, seeking shelter firstly in Gatcombeton and then in Shuttlebank.
Late October 2007
Doc Ravage wandered the streets, sheltering in any buildings that allow him entry, until he finally mastered the knack so many survivors picked up of swinging and leaping from building to building without touching the ground. He then took refuge in hospital that he still considers to be overbarricaded.
"All zis over-barricading of hospitals and ze like, it iz frustrating, no? It iz requiring much unseemly athleticizm!"
November 2007
Wandering the streets and buildings, Doc Ravage reflected on the accelerated cycle of life, death and rebirth taking place amongst the inhabitants of Malton. Although able to assist many of the survivors he came across, and finding himself becoming more adept in the field of medicine through so much practice, he did not feel he was making much headway in his project. He told himself that his growing medical expertise would undoubtedly be beneficial once he had the crucial breakthrough, but until then he felt he was merely marking time.
"Well, if I am to be marking ze time, I may az well make ze most of it! Perhaps it iz I should be touring ze suburbz, and zee what I will zee!"
