What Is the SOF?
The SOF is a group that focuses on using metagaming and organized strike teams to accomplish everything from defending territory to reclaiming suburbs to providing relief and aid. The SOF has many levels of membership, from specialized strike team members that are on call 24/7, to associates who work autonomously over vast locations in a manner of their own choosing. The SOF is also dedicated to fair tactics, any who violate official rules, or otherwise play in an unfair spirit (including alt abuse and the use of spies), are subject to immediate administrative review and possible expulsion.
How do I join?
To ensure the security of our group and the quality of our service, all potential recruits must be approved by a member of the SOF administration or one of its recruiting officers before joining. You may contact the SOF via our nonexistent forums or IRC channel.
What would I do?
There are many positions available in the SOF. Those with constant or frequent access to Urban Dead might be particularly well suited for a position in one of our Strike Teams or our Intelligence Corps. We have Strike Team Units for all players, from Medics to Scientists to Combat Experts, people who play less often or prefer a greater degree of movement may prefer to be Associates.
Strike Teams are groups of highly specialized and well-equipped members who all act and respond at the same time, generally using information provided by our Intelligence Corps. Containing Repairman, Soldiers, Medics, and Scientists, these teams act as normal players when no assignment is active, but once sent orders spend most of their time awaiting the instructions to attack. Strike Teams are the hands of the SOF, preforming most of the Killing, Healing, and Reviving.
Associates are lower level members who work using much more general orders than Strike Members. When the SOF has no particular focus, these members play Urban Dead like normal unaffiliated survivors. When they receive orders, they shift themselves to a specified general area and work towards a common goal, usually providing relief for rebuilding suburbs. These members are the Body of the SOF, comprising the bulk of our membership.
The Intelligence Corps is a special office within the SOF, charged with gathering information for Strike Teams and the Administration. Intelligence Corps members operate in groups, taking on such duties as watching buildings for falling barricade levels and break ins, and scouting out suburbs to provide intel on zombie concentration and building status. These mebers are the Eyes and Ears of the SOF, feeding information to all the other groups.
Don't play Urban Dead very much? Don't worry, that doesn't mean you can't be an effective associate or even Strike Team member. All Strike Teams and Intelligence Corps Groups have a list of what hours every day they are available, and are contacted accordingly. Whether you have 2 or 10 hours of free time every day, there's a place for you in every level of the SOF.
