Apr 4, 2008: It seems The Dead have grown tired of smashing things and have decided to hunker down and grief the DHPD. That explains why I was revived so fast. All the devastation means lots and lots of people for me to revive and heal. I'm gaining nearly 100 XP a day, just healing people. Probably another week or so, before this new place becomes too safe and I'll have to move again. Oh, and my Monroeville character has head shot two zombies so far!

Mar 26, 2008: Well, that didn't last long. I did eat lots of brains, but now I'm revived. Combat revives are stupid.

Mar 24, 2008: At the moment, I don't see much point in playing a surviver. There's no point in trying to build anything, when it will be targeted a week or so after. I think Whim will go dual nature and eat brains until revived.

Mar 24, 2008: I fled Dulston a few days back, because the both the Big Bash II and The Dead were headed that way. I chose one on of the rebuilding malls as new home, but it was overrun this yesterday and I had to run. This morning I found out I didn't run far enough and I'm dead. My second.

April 2008: The Dead chased me out of SW Malton. I run all the way to Dulston, hoping it would stay green for a while. Turns out it did, but only a week or so. Interestingly, when I left the streets were full of level 1 survivors. No one was sure why, but my guess is they were all spawned there and never even learned to go inside.

Feb 15, 2008: I think I've been having more fun playing a zombie as part of the Big Bash II than I have playing this human. I did finally buy combat skills today (and head shot). An annoying zombie had been blocking the revive queue all week and a recent attack near by made the line fairly long. Personally I think it's stupid that when I recognize a named zombie and the DNA extractor menu lets me choose between that name or "a zombie" it extracts from the one I have named anyway. I don't care that everyone's been tagged. I need to see who's there. Seems like a bug to me, but it really helps those messing up the queue. Why would I DNA extract the only zombie I recognize? Anyway, I finally got to use all those guns and amo which I've had since I started playing. He's horizontal and I still had enough turns left to revive the next in line.

Jan 30, 2008: Ok, I created a second account. Please don't kill my zombie! Don't worry he's on the other side of the town and just a small pawn in a huge zombie mob.

I also finally donated. Just ten bucks. I'm likely to give more, but I won't mention it again. I was in the three digits with KoL, before NS13 drove me out.

Anyway, I'm still very happy just healing and reviving people. I told my young cousin I was playing a text zombie game. She saw the screen and said someone in her family said he wasn't a PK. She didn't even know what PK stood for, but knew it was bad.

Jan 25, 2008: Whooeee! That was fun. I've been working to try and help in the fight against the zombies who got me. I decided to spend the day in an building next door to their "safe house". Just me and one noob in a VSB. Of course, I checked back very often and watched the barricades closely. Sure enough, someone knocked them down. I started rebuilding them, before I noticed one zombie was inside. I figured I'd lock him in anyway, when I noticed the noob's HP falling, so I healed him, and watched. As the noob's HP fell, I healed him again. I also bumped the cades up a little more. Finally the zombie noticed I was messing up his fun and attacked me. I saved a few turns for getting to safety and caded the place up with the rest. Now I'm stuck waiting until tomorrow before I can go back and see how things turned out. Anyway, that was my first real time interaction with a hostile zombie. I'm guessing the zombie will run out of AP without getting a kill and maybe someone will stop by before any other zombies come to help. If I was a zombie, I wouldn't want to sleep inside a heavily used entry point. Then again, zombies don't really mind dying, much. Sadly, I never thought to tag him.

Jan 15, 2008: It's been a long time since I've logged anything into this journal. I'm still playing and gaining experience. I've never bothered to pick up any combat skills, as this doesn't appeal to me and makes me less of a threat to others. I've just been racking up experience without buying skills. Then a couple days ago, I was finally killed for the first time. I was scouting a new area and all the buildings were over caded, even the labeled entry points. So I used my last AP to flee back to a known entry point and moved one black to a EHB. However, this left me on the front line and if I'd been smart, an hour later, I would have moved a couple block more into a safer area. Some level 1 (zombie spy?) brought a generator and fuel, so that the horde would know to attack. Anyway, it gave me a chance to purchase a bunch of zombie skills and once I had enough AP to get to stand up and get to a revive point, I was revived in minutes. My first death was far less eventful than I pictured it, just a waste of AP, especially since you can't buy ankle grab until after standing up.

I definitely like live near the front line. There's little experience to be had in the safe areas, but they are a nice place to sleep. Once I started doing revives, I had to worry about reviving the wrong people. PK, GK, etc. Of course the definition of PK is muddy in a way that makes the game somewhat fun. The area I'm in has a couple long running PK wars. In one of them, I don't think either side kills the innocent, but one side has a nasty propaganda campaign full of accusations and the other side silently fights back. I don't care as long as I don't have to be involved. I very much love my neutral rogue status.

I just picked up first aid today. Previously my reason for avoiding it was that I don't care about healing people, only getting experience. Now that I've been attacked by zombies, I want to up the pressure on them in that area, so helping out is one way to do that. Also, I've been able to find enough people to heal, so I don't think it will cost me XP.

A fun game. It doesn't have to take much time and can be amazingly complex do to all the social interactions.

Dec 8, 2007: Well, things started getting hairy. It seems the fall of Caiger Mall has sent a lot of zombies my way. Some just wanted revives, but some were looking for another mall to take down and Ackland seems to be the target. At such a low level, I did the only thing I could do and ran. I've taken up home far away. I traveled farther in one day than I had previously in my entire time in Malton. I've picked up a couple more skills (body building, NT net access) and saved up 200 XP, for zombie skills, in case I die when I can't play over Xmas. I found my first syringes, but when I return to the revive point the low level zombied survers were gone and just a dirty brain rotter was there.

Nov 28, 2007: No luck on the revives. I found a DNA extractor and mistook it for a syringe. It wasn't until I got to the revive point and tried to help someone out that I figured out my mistake. There were 11 people waiting at the point. Also, during the night mrcatbert destroy all the generators in the area. Both these are signs that the zombie front is moving closer. No big deal, I'm not in love with this area. After farming some more FAKs, I'll have to explore more to see what's safer.

Nov 27, 2007: Ok, I added bargain hunting and all those first aid kits really help bring in some XP. I'm still following the same plan, but I'm starting to feel guilty about the poor zombies I see at the revive points, so I picked up the Nanotech skill and am considering farming some revive syringes. However, if I revive instead of heal people, I won't get nearly as many XPs. I cured four people from infection today, so I knew my healing is "helping the cause". I also saw a level 1 newbie out on the streets with multiple zombies feeding off him. Poor guy. I healed him up, but it probably won't save his life.

Nov 23, 2007: Shopping sure made getting FAKs at the mall easy. My current style is to save up 50 APs then run to the mall and farm up as many FAKs I can get with enough adventures to run home. Then save up 50 APs and free run to an area where there is fighting, healing as many people as I can on the way, then travel back by the streets tagging zeds as I go. This nets me about 80 experience points every other day. I'm thinking of picking up Bargain Hunting, next.

Nov 17, 2007: Healed a bunch of people on the front line and picked up free running for my trip home. Then I headed to the mall to pick up some easy FAKs. Only to learn that I need shopping for the mall to be better than the hospital for finding FAKs. Oh, well. At least I got to see the inside of the mall. I'll have to farm more FAKs tomorrow.

Nov 15, 2007: Ended up hanging out in the hospital for a bit. With diagnosis, it was pretty easy to grab some experience, however, it's risky since zombies are breaking into buildings very close by. Someone killed another person in the hospital, then said that person was a zombie spy for an upcoming attack. So I started staying someplace less obvious. Still, I did pretty good XP wise and have over 100 now. I'll probably save up to 150 for free running. I want to see what's going on inside.

Nov 14, 2007: Continued mapping and tagging zeds. Most are already tagged, so it's hard to get experience. I'm resting a little too far back from the front lines, I might need to move closer to save turns, but it's nice to end in a place you can search for useful stuff. It's still really hard getting any experience.

Nov 12, 2007: Healed a couple people today. One was on the street in combat, so I'm sure it helped them. I just wanted the XP. Now I've got to recover some FAKs. I also picked up diag instead of free running. It was half the price and will help me get XP faster. I started adding zombies to my contact list and today I saw the zombie who attacked me before. He was dead! Ha!

Nov 11, 2007: Did some more exploring and tagging. My new safe house is farther from active zombie areas.

Nov 10, 2007: A new day brings some excitement. They broke into the museum. Three safe nights was pretty good, but I knew couldn't last. Lucky for me, the zed ran out of turns before I died. He had every skill, both living and dead! I'm sure they'll destroy the cubist sculpture.  :(

In the attack, I lost half my HP and got infected. Nothing a few FAK did't fix. Then off to the hospital to replace my supplies. I need to find a new hiding place. The hospital is VSB, but too obvious of a target, but a nice friendly Samaritan, healed that last few HP I was missing. I really need some more experience to get free running.

Sadly, I should have used my FAKs to heal others and get XP, then they could heal me, etc.

Nov 9, 2007: Still a newbie, but I'm learning the ropes. Sadly, free running is still days away. However, a flack jacket, a fire axe, and a number of FAKs means I might survive.

Nov 8, 2007: Got more serious picking up supplies, only two FAK so far.

Nov 7, 2007: I tagged a few more zombies and mapped part of the local turf. Later I learned that zombies can follow you when you tag them. Oops.

Nov 6, 2007: WhimOrClutters suddenly finds himself in NW Milton, unprepared for the chaos. Mostly by dumb luck I ended the day in a VSB building. I almost didn't realize I had to enter it.
