re: your Suggestion and the votes/comments
This is what you said:
- I don't really see how this idea would become the main focus of the game. And the idea of building barricades seems like a free lunch move - everything gained - nothing lost, hence the hike in AP, that was the plan anyway. Yea thought about that but it seems like the discussions become completely unproductive in the first 3 lines of discussing. I was hoping for more "how to fix this" rather than "waa its nerfing and buffing and making zergs" you can make level one zergs anyway, whats the difference, don't the magic countermeasures work? Tell me how to fix it, not how much its wrong please.
I'm going to explain. First of all, "I was hoping for more "how to fix this" rather than "waa its nerfing and buffing and making zergs"" -- that's what the Talk/Development page is for. Suggestions should go to the Talk page and that is where people discuss, critique, work with you improve the suggestion, etc. Even people with a lot of experience with the game and suggestions take their stuff to the Talk page first. Once you've put a suggestion to voting, it's out there... and people are not nice, nope, not at all. Because now you're at the do-or-die phase, we either vote keep or kill or spam-o-matic, no prisoners no mercy at this point... Keep in mind that those of us who've played this game for a while, and who regularly hang out on the Suggestions page, we've seen it all... From the sublime to the ridiculous. And we don't have patience for bad suggestions, because we see sooo effen many of them. From people who don't understand a lot of the basic ideas behind the game mechanics... etc. etc. Which is why hanging around the Development page for a while is a good idea. There are warnings, too. About voters being harsh. About taking it to Talk/Development first. About reading Dos and Don'ts list. Etc. etc. etc. So there's really no excuse for putting up a bad suggestion, getting it flamed, then whining about it. Because, I'm sorry, yours is a BAD suggestion. It just is. And that is not meant as some kind of personal attack, though it seems like it, I am sure. Just as the nasty comments in the voting section are not (usually) personal. You need a thick skin -- or you need to be VERY sure of the quality of your suggestion... and that's where the Development page comes in -- to play the Suggestions page game. That's the way it is, "fair" or not. Don't give up trying to offer suggestions or ideas, because we welcome new ideas... as long as they aren't ridiculous... But please learn how to do it properly, and well... Post stuff to Talk/Development, hang out in the area a while, etc.... Eventually you might come to see why the experienced players spammed your suggestion. And come up with ideas that won't get such a negative reaction. I hope this puts it all in some context for you.
