The Cure

I voted kill because, while capture the flag games are fun, inventory manipulation by another person (stealing the flag) would be required, and I'm generally against that sort of thing. Also, both "teams" need to be able to see the flag, especially in a game like Urban Dead, when 90% of your fellow participants are offline at any given time. Also, somebody could grab the flag, go hide out, and go idle, and that wouldn't be good. (Granted, it's a simple fix, but I don't think you addressed that possibility.) Capture the flag games also, in general, require more real-time interaction than what UD has--I can easily forsee somebody killing another and grabbing the flag, only to wake up dead the next day and have the flag stolen from them, only to see the flag and go for revenge, etc., etc. The offline nature of the game would just lead to petty, ever-lasting fights.

And, don't take the WCDZ variant of your suggestion as an insult. It's just a parody, and not meant in any antagonistic manner. (I ought to know, I wrote it). Bentley Foss 20:14, 6 Jan 2006 (GMT)

  • RE Nah, I don't take responses too seriously, even if they're intentionally negative. I laughed when I read your response. I'm glad my idea was able to inspire the WCDZ variant, I hope it works out for you guys. :D
I don't think you give people enough credit, though. People only go after the Cure by choice, so they incur those risks (killing and being killed) as a part of the game. And I've been headshotted countless times, and I used to think, "Oh hell no, you're going on my black list!" But keeping track of all those people would be wearisome, and I quickly realized, hey, that's part of the game. Yes, everything you said about the ramifications of capturing the Cure are probably true (killing, dying, revenge) but that's all part of the game anyway. This just adds a twist.
In any case, thanks for giving reasons.--Carnival H 21:03, 6 Jan 2006 (GMT)
