I think you should take your dark NecroTech suggestion back to the drawing board and try to rework it using the comments that you got from people who liked it but voted kill. That was the friendliest batch of kill votes I've seen in a while (ever). Maybe take it over to the suggestions talk page (or work on it on your own) and ask people for input on how to make it fly.

In regards to your response to my very long winded vote, even though you intended the syringe to only infect people I think it could still become an xp farm. Once someone is infected they could simply jumpt out a window and then pop back up waiting for their friend to revive them. Then they'd start all over. Perhaps a limit on how many times one person can zombify/revive anoter in a given day? I don't know if that would work I'm just throwing ideas out there.

If you do decide to rework it and put it up for a vote again, got hrough the old suggestions and look for other evil NecroTech stuff. I'm pretty sure there's one or two around and maybe you could find a bit in those to help your suggesiton. Maybe some of the general NecroTech ideas would have something useful also. THere's a lot of stuff in Peer Rejected that is crap but has a cool element here and there to it.

In any case I really think that with enough work on it you could get this to pass. And it's such a cool concept. --Thelabrat 00:48, 15 Jan 2006 (GMT)

  • Ditto what he said ^. I personally really enjoyed it (you got my keep vote after you adjusted the XP reward to make it consistent with PKing), and don't think it would be abused any more than any other current XP farms (with the current search % it's much easier to farm XP by attacking and healing another player than it would be to infect someone and revive them over and over again).

Part of what may have happened was you got a few early kill votes because of the regular XP gain, and once that started the anti-PKer ball rolling - you couldn't recover from it even after you adjusted the XP number. I would venture to say that your best bet would be to make sure the wording in the way you present the suggestion doesn't leave room for people to think it could be abused (consider different ways to word things and don't leave a lot of room for unanswered questions). If you want greater peer input on it, take it to the suggestion discussion page as Thelabrat mentioned. It's the best way to see what kind of issues voters may have with it, and collect a broader brainstorming effort to iron out details. I hope that helps, I really do think it was a good idea. --Blahblahblah 22:38, 21 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Thanks for the encouragement and I have taken off for a rethink - will start off on the discussion page - look forward to your input - have fun!--KyleTravis 02:03, 22 Jan 2006 (GMT)

I don't think people will ever go for something that encourages PKing, even if it doesn't reward them any more than PKing does now. They'll PK because it's new and they'll want to play around with it. You need to think of a way to make a Dark Science like flavor for a skill that isn't designed to hurt other players. --Jon Pyre 07:09, 23 Jan 2006 (GMT)
