DK13's recruitment ad
I just wanted to let you know what's up with your recruitment ad, since the edits you made awhile ago undid quite a lot of other work and were somewhat destructive in nature. The image you guys are using in the ad is a massive 111.5KB, but the recruitment page has a hard limit of 56KB for images in recruitment ads. The quick way to fix it is to simply upload a smaller or more compressed version of the image. Just open the image up in an editor, then save it back out as a .jpg file with slightly lower quality. You should see a major drop in file size for an indiscernible loss in visual quality.
Once you do that, if you look at the code for the page you should see that your advertisement is still there, just like it always has been, but that it's simply been commented out. The code looks like this right now:
<!--2011-07-25 Advert contains an image that is in excess of 56KB ===[[DELTA KILO ONE THREE: DK13]] : PRO SURVIVOR=== {| | {{:DELTA_KILO_ONE_THREE/recruit}} --[[User:T13|T13]] 12:57, 18 July 2011 (BST) |} -->
You have two weeks from the date listed in the comment (2011-07-25) to fix the issue. Once you do, just remove the lines of code starting with <!--
and -->
and it should reappear exactly where it was before. —Aichon— 19:11, 31 July 2011 (BST)
YES. CAPS! THE IMAGE IN QUESTION WAS LAST COMPRESSED ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO. IT HAS BEEN FINE FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS OR SO ... AND NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN IT IS TOO BIG? THIS IS JUST GETTING BEYOND STUPID NOW!!!!!!!!!! --T13 02:42, 3 August 2011 (BST)
NB: I have replaced the image with a tiny one which is 6.3K in size. It is fucking tiny, and to be quite honest, not worth having at all, but will hopefully see an end to all this bullshit regarding images that are allegedly too big. Thanks! --T13 02:48, 3 August 2011 (BST)
- I like the new 55.92KB one you put in. It looks better than the older one, and it's bigger to boot, which I think shows off the image better. As for it only being taken down now, eh, what can I say? Some parts of that page aren't enforced very often, but there was a cleanup of all ads that had images that were too large according to the rules of the page, and yours just happened to be one of them. —Aichon— 03:50, 3 August 2011 (BST)
No problems. Yeah, i guess it looks ok. And sorry for being a grump before. I had only just woken up. Cheers!!! --T13 05:02, 3 August 2011 (BST)
