RP killing and News etc.

No, because it's generally not considered to fall within NPOV guidelines, nor is it a major event. The reason being that it's an attempt to deal with a tactical issue... RPs are a survivor tactic, and as some argue, problems with them are a probleem of bad survivor tactics. But whatever... See, it's akin to people who say, "Zombies are in so-and-so. I advise everyone rereat to the next suburb." That's giving tactical information via the news, and it's not acceptable. How'd you like it if zombies coodinated strikes via the News?... Announcing RP killings isn't as bad as all that, but it's the same kind of thing... Tactical stuff belongs in the metagame, i.e. forums, or is to be deal with through in-game means... radio, spray tags, etc.

Also, the News is for major events. While I agree that RP killing is a major pain in the ass, and can be a big problem if it's done a lot... "Major events" usually means news about the status of resource buildings, or large parts of the suburb, or the actions of large groups which have an impact on all the residents, things like that. Now, RP killing could fall under that. Maybe... It's really grey, sometimes, say a group is actively organising RP killing, IMO that's newsworthy. But many would disagree.... And, no one is consistent in enforcing the NPOV or major events stuff... So when I come along and do that, even if I am 110% correct (and I'm not always, not at all), people are suprised and sometimes upset. Sigh.

Anyway, it was nothing personal. I made a judgeement call, and last night I deleted a whole bunch of POV posts, so I wasn't picking on you! ;) If you feel I was wrong, please revert my edit, or post a new article... Just keep in mind what I said about "major events" and NPOV in doing so, because that's the ideal that we hope for in the News.

That's fair enough. I suppose I did cross the line there. --Twin paradox 10:57, 14 April 2008 (BST)
